You know, that disgusting thing on the back of some peices of fried chicken. Why can't they just cut the thing off before they fry it?

KFC right now, but this part is on every fried chicken I ever saw. It's really the part the tail feathers stick out of, but I've always called it a butt hole flap. It looks nasty, and I can't imagine why they leave it on there.

I believe it is what the tail feathers are attached to.
My main beef { no pun} is when you buy packaged chicken breasts and they include all the skin they can find just to add to the weight.
But to answer the question...........I don't know why they include it.
Nothing beats a good piece of tail though.

Are you referring to the "poke's nose"? It was always looked upon as a delicacy in my home when growing up. I've always like it.

Popeyes chicken is much better (IMO), with a side order of mashed potatoes and cajun gravy and especially their cajun French Fries (family size)

I never knew what it was called till I was dinning at a friends house. Let's just say it wasn't a catholic household, you can figure the rest.

You're right, I had forgotten about that "other" name. My dear old mother, gawd bless her soul, was much too polite to refer to it as that.

Chicken Butt, the last part over the fence. No I don't eat them on purpose but I suspect thats what chicken nuggets are made out of.

That part is actually an oil gland. For anyone who's lived on a farm, they've probably seen a chicken preening itself. It will appear to be scratching that area with its beak, then will go to another part of the body, then back. It collects the oils in its beak, then spreads it onto its feathers. Birds do the same thing. When we caught and killed a chicken for a meal, that part was left on, but we never ate it.

Parson's Nose, Pokes Nose. LOL My Mother-In-Law from New England called it a Pooper Dooper.

Don't care what it's called--it looks nasty. I did see on google, that some places sell big 10 lb boxes of just that part. PIP is still down..A fire where the server is located evidently.

If you have never had Popeyes chicken and their cajun french fries, your life is not complete

I guess those of us living here in the wastelands of British Columbia have incomplete lives then, because alas, there is no Popeyes in BC.

That is very sad.
However, if you ever travel and have a chance to stop at one you will get one heck of a treat
