I just want a simple wav file to play just before the login screen comes up. How exactly can this be done?

If you know how to do this, please give me very specific instructions.

I dont really have instructions, but I would think the best way to do this would involve a small VB program. You could possibly find a macro program that would do a something like this with little to no effort..

is this on XP machine? i'm assuming yes.
control panel
sounds and audio devices
look in the listbox (program event) and scroll down to windows logon
in the sounds: box
you can browse/assign a different sound file to play when you logon

I don't know anything about vb programs or macros. I want the sound a bit earlier then the login sound but thanks Tom. Basically I want the sound telling you that you will need to login.

oh, there are different program events. i haven't tried any of them maybe one of them could work.
i wonder if you can create your own program event and apply a sound to it.
