There are times when things seem to just go wrong. So we take desperate measures to stave off doom...sell things to pay bills etc...and then SHE (Lady Luck) decides to bestow us with her benevolent smile..when it is too late to be a bonus, but just a step back up to where we were before..for instance: We have been having an arid period, so far as work and income are concerned.7 months to be precise Canīt be helped really...it happens to everybody. So, I take steps to counter-act the bad things, such as selling my Fiero. She is sold, and a deposit has been payed.Ah well, there will be others....but THEN!! This morning, I got an email from my lawyer, saying he has forced them to pay me an interim payment on the interest from my Trust Fund..$3500! Sh..ugar!! The car is sold!! Ah well, the stress has subsided, so I will cope with the loss of the car. Then this morning, the phone rings...can I go and do an estimate for some welding work? Sure!! made an appointment for 5 pm today to go view the project.I thought it was just going to be a couple of little gates for a garden...wrong!! 4 gates, and a steel panel along the top of a wall 20 feet long...a railing around a terrace= 35 feet by 3 ft high...total value of the job is $4850 gross, $3200 nett to me!! Get back home, a friend pulls up as I get out of the car...can I make 44 gates 3ft wide by 6 ft tall...total value of the job $6000, $3895 nett to me!! And now, the phone rings 5 minutes ago..my Music work is going to start next weekend...only 4 gigs a week, but that is worth $1000 a week!! With a contract!!
Add all that to $7000 for the Fiero, if and when it comes...
Now...where is that 88 T-Tops with a 3.8 engine..or roadster... Lady Luck has decided to not only restore us to equilibruim...She's given us a big step forward too!!!
KARMA ROOOOOLS!!!!!
Nick
PS..just phoned Ellie at work to tell her the news...and she has PROMISED we can come to the USA this AUTUMN for a holiday!!!!!!!!!!

You braggin' or complainin'?
I had to sell a SWEET little Cabriolet just to build the 16'x16' room I live in - and to EAT. There were several times that summer that I LITERALY did not know where my second meal was going to come from. Very scary! Also had to sell the custom painted ZX that was soooo much fun to drive. Only good thing is I found the Indy so I at least have a nice car to drive. Still; I don't have a house, or a well, or any money to buy parts for my other project cars. I'd say lady luck is on your side....
Paul

After my mother died, I got her house (& the loan my brother talked her into to help him out). Everything was fine, untill my roommate brought over some low-lifes he worked with - in spite of my telling him in the begining not to bring anyone over he didn't trust!. They found out no one was there during the day, & since the house was 700 ft. off the road, they had all the time in the world to clean me out.* Took almost everything I had worked for in the previous 15 years. (My roommate's excuse? "Well I knew they were low-lifes but I didn't think they would do anything like this."!!!) Second time they came back they took the shtuff I had bought to replace a few of the items (TV & such). Third time they took only tools from the carport (locked storage), since they knew I had an alarm by then. Long story short, I had to sell, find property, & build what I could out of the equity. Got 5 acres, graded it, sepic tank, & built a 30x40 storage building/shop - ran out of money before I got garage doors up.
But I'm a long way from rock bottom. There are guys with families that are homeless (a LOT of them due to insurance companies not paying!), & children that are starving in this country. I just wish I could help them. If I hit the lottery I would start a complex to house the homeless & find trhem jobs, & a charity that found hungry children & made sure they ate well.
Thanks for the concern,
Paul
* State Farm didn't pay me a dime: we had insurance through them on that property for FOURTY years!!! That's when I started ScrewedByinsurance.com.

Ahh, fortune smirking at you! I was down sized at 50, the next year was a scramble but things have come around to the point that I wouldn't go back to where I was. Sometimes in the middle of a down turn it feels like endless freefall, but things eventually come around. And now you have the opportunity to build the Fiero you never could before!

Well I'm a long way from being able to build my Fiero(s). In fact, with all the BS I get here from some of the guys (among other things) I've put the Fieros on the back burner (more or less) to my other projects. I need to finish my blue Bug & the Sportster, & then the next ting I want to do is get the new Cabriolet running. I bought this body (before I ran out of money) for the front bumper to repair the nice Cab. after deer damage, so that I could sell it. This one now has '88 Fiero running gear/suspension, & a 300 HP SBC (mid-engine of course). But I have no money for parts or even sheetmetal to fab the firewall & trunk right now.
The worst thing about the burgularies was loosing my 300+ CDs. Music used to be my greatest passion but it was quite a while before I could even listen to it after that (been about 5 years now). I still have a long list of CDs that I REALLY miss...
Paul

Edit: Also, after 40 years of doing body & frame work I can no longer work full time 'cause of all the damage done to my joints & back. This the reason I post here at various times of the day or night (frequent breaks).

Tha Driver..That was pretty sick of your room mate, and his pals. And surely your brother would...naaah!! scrub that I Brothers? Bah...
Whereas you are right, in that there are many worse of than us, doesnīt mean we shouldnīt try to better our luck and circumstances though. I see you are still enthusiastic about life, have compassion for others..and can be satisfied with what most others would call 'basics', to maintain your independence. Good for you, and even more hopes and aspirations coming to you from Spain!!
Xanth...Thanks!! You'd better believe I am feeling bit more 'chirpy' today!! Gotta make hay whilst the sun shines
Zetabird..if we went through life expecting favours to be returned, there would be no pleasure in doing favours...they would then just become work
I hope...HOPE to get there for the 25th..but Boy!! Last year flights to the USA were around $600 return...now they are more like double to $1500...for flights only!!Thinking about checking for a holiday, to see if that is any cheaper..
Thanks Everybody...
