Depends on the product. Also, some byproducts of refining make other products.
42 gallons to the barrel. It used to be 55 but in the olden days some would spill out being transported by horse and carriage on those rutted roads.....j/k, .

Thanks Cliff and Formula88. just wondering what the price increase ratio of the other products has been over the last two years, compared to gasoline.

One of the markers is styrene butadiene rubber--synthetic rubber, which is rubber made from crude--into tires (tyres?), hoses, belts etc. The chemical feedstock for synthetic rubber is butadiene--and the symbol for it on international markets is BD,

quote
May 2007-Spot prices for styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) are 84˘/lb this month, as compared with 69˘ at this time last year.

Oct 2007- SBR spot prices for SPR were in an 80-84 cents/lb FOB USG range

Asian markets hard hit, (Most US tires are actually made in Asia nowdays)

quote
Jan 2008--The butadiene feedstock price has been rising sharply every month since last year and we have to factor this high BD cost as well as strong demand and tight SBR supply into the second quarter contract offers,” a SBR producer said. BD spot prices hit a record high of $1,900/tonne CFR northeast (NE) Asia in early February, up about $600/tonne since last November, according to global chemicals market intelligence service, ICIS pricing. “Although tyre producers have increased the tyre prices to cope with the rising SBR costs, it is not possible to absorb another $500/tonne hike and to continue to pass on the costs to our customers, a tyre producer said. “A more modest increase of $200/tonne would be more in line with the BD price increase,” he added. In recent weeks, several major tyre major producers in the US have announced tyre price increases of 5-7% for cars, saying the price increases were primarily driven by the rising SBR prices. These include Continental Tire North America, Cooper Tire and Rubber, Goodyear Tire &Rubber, Kumho Tire USA, and Michelin North America. Japan’s top tyre maker, Bridgestone Corp, also said it will raise prices in China by 3- 5% beginning in March because a cost-cutting initiative failed to offset rising raw material costs." ...

Also! Barrels is a volume amount that is measured through pipelines. Oil isn't stored in barrels anymore. But I guess that volume stuck.

BTW that's for california. Distillation/refining can take different ratios, and in europe it is geared more towards diesel production since that's all you guys use.

to follow oil products just search tonto.eia.doe .gov and the oil drum
the energy calif site above is good if you google % of product made from barrel of oil there will be many sites and you can figure out the different products
Most of the info came from the tonto,, the tonto is where you start its a goverment report out every monday about what where why how if you follow tonto for a year you will know enough that none will beleave you ??? there is a lot of false info on this forum about oil prices and why
the oil drum will give you quick easy info about situations.. you will find these sites very interesting when oil hits $5.00 a gallon
The calif site gives info that will apply generally to the whole country ,, you must devote at least 2 hours to get correct scoop,,many sites are incorrect .. the cal site is as good as any I waste much time on sites that APPLY TO HOW OUR ECONOMY WORKS and why we pay a certain price and how buying foreign products effect us boringggg reading
