I was thinking about starting a "mod my car" fund with plasma donations... its an hour a day every 7 days... sounds like a good deal to me. I heard I could make $40 a shot.
Anyone know the best way to find a place that buys plasma or anyone that has done it before?
I don't know around where you are, but I found out by word of mouth where I live, and they allowed 2 times a week, 20 dollars the first time, and 30 the second.
They had it set up to where you could set up a savings account, and take out money when you needed it, and you could set up appointments online.
I will see if I can find a link, I believe they had places across the country.

Google "blood plasma donation centers" and find someplace locally for you. You can donate once every 3 days, IIRC, so twice a week. I used to do it when I lived close to a center. It only takes an hour or two, depending on how busy they are, and it gets you extra pocket money.
I did it for about 4 or 5 months.....no ill effects and the place was very professional. It was in a college town, so lots of students were there. Some centers are in bad neighborhoods, so be careful.
Oh yeah.....different centers and locations pay different premiums, so shop around if there is more than one place near you. The place I went to paid $40 for the first two visits ($80 total) and then it is based on your weight......varies from $25-$35 a pop. The heavier you are the more plasma they can take, so the more you get paid.

Look up Red Cross or Community Blood Centers. I used to donate back in college for beer money. Think back then it was $15 per donation. I don't think you can donate everyday like that. I thought it was twice a month or something. When you donate plasma they draw the blood out and seperate the white or red blood cells? and then pump your blood back into you. It takes a little time, I think 20 or 30 minutes. So compared to donating whole blood (usually takes me 5-8 minutes to give a pint) it takes a lot longer. Also it may be uncomfortable to be hooked up to a machine for that long.
Make sure you drink plenty of fluids like juice and water before you donate and afterwards also.

I live in the absolute most destitute city in my state, and easily top 5 in the country, so I might have some competition....
I found a plasma center about 12 miles from me, and a few different blood centers around me. Going to check the hospital and then the blood centers in town. Eventually going to hit up the plasma center a bit farther away.. See if its worth it.
I have a feeling they will be a bit low up there, its basically in the worst part of town there is here, I would bet they have quite the client base.

You can donate two times within a 7 day period, but there must be at least two days between donations. The actual process takes less than 45 minutes, but there is time spent in the waiting room and waiting to get hooked up, etc.......one day it took me 2 1/2 hours for my donation......it just happened to be really busy at the time I went. Just make sure you have nothing going on for a couple of hours, just in case.
Definitely stay hydrated. One of the tests they run before each donation checks your level of hydration.....also, make sure you eat something about 1/2 hour before donating and eat something afterwards too.

If you already have a regular 40 hr a week, M-F job, you might see if there are any moving companys near you. Some larger movers will do office moves on weekends and at night. Typically they would start a move at like 1800 Friday and work til 200 am Sat. Come back in Saturday at 800 am and work all day and again on Sunday. The moves require a lot more people than the company employees. Also during the summer the regular crews may work all day and then start the move at night so they get worn out pretty quick. Its usually pertty easy work, wraping up computers, lamps, etc and placing the smaller items in bins. Then there are a lot of boxes and furniture to move but its mostly pushing the stuff around on 4-wheel dollies.
I was always short handed and ended up using temps. I don't know what the pay would be these days but probably around $10 per hour. Might be worth checking out.
Hmm, I like the mover idea. I tried donating plasma last week but it was really ghetto which made me nervous, which made my pulse rate too high and I was disqualified. Ah well. I think I'll look into moving though, I'm all for temp/part time evening working hours.
When I was younger, my roomie and I donated plasma every 3 days like clock work. It was beer and club money at the time But yea, there is not real good reason NOT to sell your plasma.

I used to donate plasma in college. Found the place through word of mouth. I quit going cause there was too many scary people there and fights going on a lot in the waiting room and I just didnt feel comfy going there alone.
