I finally got to race my Mustang last night. Last night they opened up a new 1/4 mile track in Arecibo. It was an old small airport that a group of car lovers/racers got together and obtained and since last fall they have been converting it into a 1/4 mile track and the grand opening night was last night. Sadly there was a long delay as they couldn't get the starter lights or clock to work, go figure, so after an hour delay they ended up running with just a guy waving his hands down like they do on Pinks.
In a few weeks I may go back again and see if they have gotten the lights and clock working and then run the Mustang again.
I have some video of my Mustang that my wife shot of me racing down the track that I can try and figure out how to post, but it isn't that good as it was late in the evening so the lighting for the camera wasn't very good. It gets pretty blurry and out of focus at times plus my wife says she was uncomfortable working the camera. She wanted to watch me race and kept forgetting to look down to make sure the camcorder was aimed where I was.

We also found out that there is another track in Manatee, though it's said to be not as nice, but they are running on Thursday so we may go Thursday night and check that one out too.

Good find. You might want to invest in a tripod for the camcorder, if you don't have one. It will make it easier to shoot the car and the video will be less jerky.

A thought of a tripod but I think I will try and get one of our friends from one of the car clubs who may go film it for us since he said he just wants to watch.
That way my wife won't be upset thinking it is her fault if the footage doesn't come out very well and she can instead simply watch and enjoy the evening.
I found out that their was a muscle car club member who was filming so I am going to try and get a hold of him and see if his footage was any better. If so I will get a copy and post the vids.
I ran 4 times and only lost my first time as I didn't spin my tires before my first attempt to heat them up and so I couldn't get any traction at first for a good launch and then didn't have enough time to play catch up.

Well, we have had some big rains storms the past few days all day and night so no racing last night
Oh well, there is always next week
There is also a big MCA Mustang club get together this Sunday at Cafe Rafy's in Camuy so hopefully we will have nice weather for that.
