I have some old World War II films that I have transferred to DVD. They include some great footage of the surrender of Paris, and I think possibly the Bismarck, and some other historical footage. If I put the DVD on eBay can I use the word "Nazi" in the description? I thought I remembered hearing once that you can't use the word "NazI"

OK - well any other ideas of where to put this up for sale? I don't know if there would even be any interest in it. I am a history buff and jumped at the chance to buy the films at an estate sale.

Racially or Ethnically Offensive Works of Art, including Books, Movies, Music and Artwork
Artists occasionally use offensive words and phrases such as ’****** ‘ and ’Jap‘ in the titles of media items such as books, movies, music and artwork. Examples of such items include books from prominent authors such as Randall Kennedy, Joseph Conrad and H. Rap Brown, and musicians such as John Lennon. Sellers may use such words and phrases in the title and description of their listings within media categories such as Books, Movies and Music, provided that the offensive words are actually part of the title of the listed item. eBay urges all of its community members to treat others as they themselves would like to be treated.
eBay will review listings that are brought to its attention by its worldwide community, and will look at the entire listing to determine whether it falls within this rule.
Examples of items that will generally be removed:
*
Items that bear symbols of the Nazis, the SS, or the KKK, including authentic German WWII memorabilia such as Olympic medals that bear such marks *
Items that were owned by or affiliated with Nazi leaders *
Music or films that promote hatred and racial supremacy *
Holocaust denial books *
Crime scene photographs *
Morgue shots *
Letters and artwork from notorious murderers *
Electric chairs and related capital punishment items
Examples of items that may generally be listed:
*
German coins and postage stamps (canceled or otherwise) from the WWII era regardless of markings *
WWII memorabilia that does not bear the Nazi or SS markings *
Books and movies about WWII or Nazi Germany that do not contain propaganda, even if the Nazi symbol appears on the item *
War documentaries or documentary photos portraying victims of war or violence provided they do not contain propaganda *
Items of historical importance associated with acts of violence against public figures

It doesnt say you cant sell them, it just says they may be reviewed to make sure that you are following their policies. Give it a try, worst thing they do is cancel your auction and give you your money back.

You could post say a Nazi's uniform, but you would have to blur out the symbol to be safe. (At least I think that gets around it). Your DVD should be fine unless you put a big swastica on the label. Though it shouldn't be too difficult to list it without the word in the ad.

Originally posted by lurker: i'm interested. let me know what you want for this and maybe we can do business. i may beg for an impoverished grad student discount
I am watching it again a little. I really wish that my company had done the transfer, but a friend of mine had it done at another company that he lives near. It's okay, but we could have done a better job on it. My uncle has the orginal films now, and maybe I should see if he will mail them back to me. I don't know.
If anyone on here wants a copy it is interesting to view. Parades, Naval and Air Force footage, treaties (maybe surrenders?) signed, etc. I believe it to be all Nazi footage (or at least Axis as I believe Mussolini is in part of it) and I do not believe I have seen anything that is Allies. I believe it is just under 60 minutes of film.
Call it $15 shipped via Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation to anwhere in the US?
Per request sent by PM: I will post some images from the films either later today or tomorrow. Please be patient, as I have other projects that I am needing to get done for customers.

Yes, some of this is scary. I am NOT promoting any of this. I am a huge history buff and came across these films for a decent price. A friend had them transferred (I wish he had not done that and we had transferred them here at work, but oh well) and I just want to give other history buffs a chance at what may be some rare stuff. I don't agree with the Nazi propaganda or beliefs, but it is a major event in history and should be studied and understood.

All PMs responded to. I will be re-mastering the DVD to make it more navigable, but the transfer will be the same. Hopefully I can get the original films back and re-do the transfer.

These flms are not MovieTone. They are Nazi Party produced films and I have not been able to locate them anywhere. There is a LOT of US DOD stuff out there....but as a friend of mine who is a huge WW2 buff...these are really good b/c he has never seen them before and he has been collecting WW2 films, footage, etc for more than 20 years.
