Well as the subject states I have added two cylinders and 1.2l to my collection. Now I have eight cylinders and 5.0 l of two seater fun.

Just picked a HD Sportster 1200s. It needs a little shining up but is in real nice shape with no leaks. Its has been a while since I have been on two wheels again but I can hardly wait until the weather breaks hear in Ohio. My first passion has always been motorcycles.

Anybody else out there ride?

How much it cost?

1975 Honda GL1000 Goldwing. (edit: it has around 28,000 miles)
Missed the snow on Thursday and rode it to the shop where it's going to get new forks, tires and a few other things. Just had the seat redone and for the 17 miles it felt great.
In April I will start my class to become a MSF coach. I recommend a class for everyone, including a refresher every few years.

This is my first American made bike. I have owned a number of fast Jap bikes. I think that that the HDs hold their value or at least the bigger ones. The Sportster doesn't hold their value as well as other HDs.

I think its clear he doesn't want to talk about price! I mean he's living in his garage for god's sake. (I see the microwave back there) Probably should have saved that money for a whole house.

Yeah, just wondering what something like that is going for in his neck of the woods.

If "his friend" were to buy one, how much would he have to give?

You are partially correct about the garage thing. I do spend a lot of time the garage. It has all the luxuries of cable TV, heat, intercom, microwave, refrigerator, freezer and coffee pot. I do have to frequent the house when I need to use the restroom though.

In good condition a 1997 1200 HD Sportster goes for $3500~$4700. I paid $4200. It came with brand new removable saddle bags, adjustable rear air shocks, screaming eagle exhaust and carb and a HD shorty windshield. It is a 1200s (Sport) which has a little more chrome and front dual disc brakes.

i havent ridden in almost 20 years. yesterday i found myself looking at ebay for a particular make and model, and was pleased to see several (eventually) attainably priced examples in good condition. i'm thinking if there was anything i wanted to sit in my garage and be driven around the block once a month it would be that. so if and when my financial situation recovers, i'll pick one up, buff it up and tuck it away in a dry corner. i promise i wont ride it. much. no, really.

The first bike I ever bought new was a 1967 BMW R69S that I special ordered with a couple of uncommon options, a 6.5 gallon "sport" tank and a fat seat for long distance riding. It cost me about $1200 delivered. The same bike today, in good to excellent condition, would be worth $40,000 to $50,000 (if I still had it).

Aww....the old "I wish I still had that today". How does the saying go "I wish I knew then what I know now" In 1973 I owned a 1968 Dodge Coronet 500 convertable. I think I paid $500 for it. Today I have seen almost the same car go for $20,000. Don't you just hate that?

I do not have a bike at this time, but I am always keeping my eyes open for a good deal.
I will buy a nice older (83-90) Goldwing when I find one. Last wing I had was an 82 1100cc and I beat that bike and could not kill it. I rode it like a
sport bike and used it like a small pickup truck. Hate to think of all the auto parts hauled around on it. Had it for 2 years before I could ride a wheelie on it. Hard to get used to the shaft drive picking up the rear when you want to pull the front up.
When I got rid of it, it had 225,000 miles on the odo. I was no fair weather biker and rode sun, rain, sleet, hail and snow. I spent one whole year with it as my
only transportation here in Kentucky. Nothing beats hopping on the bike to head out on an 850 mile ride to Florida for Bike Week when it is 10 degrees outside.
Even worse is leaving Florida at 80 degrees and finishing the ride home in 4" of snow.
I will get a pic of it up later.

Gene

I'd be a millionaire if my mom didn't get rid of my Hot Wheels, comics and sports cards.
