I've been running Firefox 2 and noticed it before I updated, but on bootup,
sometimes I get a "server not found" error on my homepage. Most of the time
I close it out and reopen with all OK. Sometimes I can click on a simple page like
Google in bookmarks then back to my homepage and it loads. Once it loads OK,
there isn't anymore trouble. I purge temp files often and have Norton AV and ZoneAlarm
running too. This is XP SP2. I run DSL also.
Any suggestions anyone?

Have you tried refreshing the page that wont load?

Sometimes when I first start my computer and open firefox too fast, it load my homepage, but once the DNS server and other networking junk gets resolved (few seconds at most) it will load.

Yeah, sometimes it works, sometimes not.
More of an aggravation than anything, but I don't like it much.
