That's generally how it works. You make a mistake. Someone points it out, and if you learn from your mistake you can grow as a person.
Yet you're the one using profanity and calling people names. Do you want to discuss the economy or do you just want to complain about it? If you're interested in a discussion about the economy and you're using the stock market figures as an example - you pretty much need to understand the math.
But if all you want to do is whine that everything sucks, you can do that regardless.
Is that what you're really wanting? Everyone to leave you alone so you can whine and complain in peace?
Yes yes.. right again. Your kindness and generosity has been received on a cold plate. Thanks again.

Are you talking about in general or just right now?
In GENERAL, the after hours trading is not all that important, IMHO. The reason? Very limited volume of trading. In order to have an "outcry" market work, it needs a lot of volume. There is no "outcry" so to speak in the afer hours trading, it's all done impersonally through electronic trading, so there is no public outcry. I may be old fashioned in this regard, but my contention has always been that the market, both stocks and commodities, are actually somewhat "alive". There is a huge amount of emotion involved and it really only shows up in "face to face" transactions, which actually DO go on in the trading pits and on the trading floor.
Virtually all of the after hours trading is done through computer programmed buying and selling, something I don't really believe in. I believe in the technical side of the markets. Charts and numbers. HOWEVER, they are only one side of the equation, a tool, and anyone that doesn't also watch the emotion of the market is a fool that's going to get wiped out sooner or later.
9/11 was a good example. The greatest technical analyst in the world could NOT have forseen that coming and happening to the markets by ONLY looking at their charts. No way, no how.
The commodities markets also have after hours trading and it really isn't much of an indicator one way or the other either.
I had a good friend that owned a seat on the Kansas City Board of Trade and traded wheat. He semi-retired and moved to eastern CO thinking he could continue day trading long distance. It didn't work. He said he just couldn't feel the emotion and trends that he felt on the trading floor. I can understand that, it's just not the same. It's one reason I dislike EBay as compared to a real public auction. Not the same thing. I can't look at the other bidder and see what's in their eyes.

Just calling it as I see it with Bill. How can you discuss/debate something with a guy that whines and complains about what you post every time you disagree with him?
I rarely agree with him, and more often than not we get nowhere because we are on opposite sides of the spectrum.
To answer your question: He often approaches things from an angle that I would never have considered...and here's the interresting part IF you keep in mind we don't agree on most things: I have learned so much from him. So, I will continue to discuss/debate with him because it is worth it to me. I may feel we get nowhere most of the time, but he gets me thinking. I see that as something worthwhile.

Damn Bill. I have been working all night, got off and have drunken some beers. Now, I won't be able to sleep. Dang, I gotta pull another all nighter. The economy is just fine.
This was uncalled for. There is no reason for this immature name calling and assumption.

I love that "Born Again Poster" stuff! I can't get enough of it!
I'm not bickering with you, Bill.
I'm just flushing out your tactics for the rest of the forum to see. I can't debate or discuss an issue with someone that whines when he's wrong or is losing an argument. I love watching that tactic, too!

Get pissy all you want. Scream and complain all you want. I'm not going to bicker with you. I'm just showing that this isn't the Bill-Phranc-Aceman show. This is the Bill-Anyone that disagrees with Bill show that you put on. As soon as you're backed into a losing corner you use the whine and complain, holier than thou and born again poster tactics. I'm just tired of seeing it.
This has nothing with you disagreeing with me and everything with you coming into this thread and stating your typical crap.
Your desire to thread hop and name call is inexcusable. It serves no purpose other than destroy a thread to further your mission whatever that may be. It serves NO purpose at all other than to just trash it.
During the last few days while you were gone it was VERY obvious. Your absence and the lack of name calling was quite noticeable and very obvious to those you hassle at every chance you can.

Are you trying to bicker with me, Bill? Bickering will get you a timeout, Bill.
I cannot discuss an issue with you when you use the tactics I've listed above. So you're bringing up petty issues whereas I'm explaining why everone has issues in discussing or debating an issue with you.
I'm in no mood to bicker with your petty issues, Bill.
Have a Nice Day. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- bick·er (bĭk'ər) Pronunciation Key intr.v. bick·ered, bick·er·ing, bick·ers
To engage in a petty, bad-tempered quarrel; squabble.
You say you are in no mood to bicker with "my" petty issue yet you continue to post in my thread to trash it further and carry out your mission statement.
There was no reason for you to come into this thread and make that first post in the manner that you did. The sole purpose of which was to destroy this thread.
It is apparent that you will continue posting and continue to trash this thread until your mission is accomplished.
I have no doubt that you will do so in other threads as well.
As I stated in a previous post your absence from this forum over the last several days was very obvious. Since you have returned you have continued your efforts to hassle, hound, name call, and troll threads to illicit responses from your intended victims, effectively destroying threads, causing undue emotional distress in your victim and carrying out that mission in any way possible.
If you truly dont want to bicker then discontinue your postings in this thread and move along.
I can assure you that would be a most welcome move.

oh, and thanks .....you're making me feel real good about my friend proves one thing, you can't trust anyone
That wasn't my intention at all.
Just offering up experiences so that you might be able to avoid taking one persons word as gospel.
You cant get "the straight dope" from one source but rather need create a composite outlook from many.
I get railed for "cut and paste" stories but when they are taken as a whole it forms a picture. What some do when forming that picture is ASSUME that I'm all about doom and gloom or make some other wild ASSUMPTIONS to deflect from the problem.
Perspectives on any given topic is important to understanding the "big" picture. The question is then "if the house is not burning then just by continuing to believe it isnt, will the fire go out on its own?"
I suppose the answer would be, what is fueling the fire?
It's obvious the market is on fire and blame is laid on fear. Fear is an absence of facts, the unknown. There are many facts to base the fears on and it is then a refusal to recognize those facts which will allow the fire to burn out of control... Well.. almost anyway.
The fed is throwing teacups of water on a fire. It does make a difference but it does not address the problems (the fuel) the fire is feeding on. This is in effect both temporarily delaying and at the same time exacerbating the "problem" that quote, "doesn't exist."

No one will tell you how to survive and protect yourself because you as a small fish living in an ocean of predators must figure that out on your own or be used as a food item.

I know it wasn't your intention, the comment about my friend was just a joke. We've been friends for a long time, I'm godfather to his son. What happened to your grandfather is a perfect example of why we have to be our own advocates.
I agree that one source of information is not enough. Believe me, I don't take my financial planners word as gospel, but with the experience he has in the market I do listen closely when he talks. Between him, the news, and all the discussions on here as well as talking with friends at work on the subject, I get enough info to form my own opinions and act on them if need be.
I'm glad I don't play the stock market, I have mutual funds which are typically less volatile than a straight stock. I'm also in it for the long run so waves like the one we're having now don't bother me too much. I don't plan on touching them until at least 2030.

In other words you don't know, or if you do, don't care about anyone but yourself?
