ive been looking for a grill/brush guard for my 95 half ton chevy. i just can't find anything that i like, i think im left to having to either have one made or make my own. i want a gaurd that will acutally do something when needed not just look good. if i hit a deer i want it to help as much as possible, or if i want to push something and not worry bout hurting it what so ever. so anyone got any ideas?

You'll want something that ISN'T chrome if you want something that actually works, rather than just looks good. I find the best quality is Grizzly, although it comes at a very high price - i bought a grizzly guard that sold for $1600 - luckily i got it for $250 used. Anything you find at wally-mart type stores is just for look, typically a thin gauge metal with cheap tai. chrome.

For example

A friend bought a cheap $250 (new) push-bar from one of my suppliers and not even 1 year later its begun to rust and peel. The grizzly I had is well over 10 years old and still looks LITERALLY brand new.

Luverne C-9902-GGC is a bar stock chrome guard, extremely tough, unfortunately discontinued long ago.

The new tubular C-8802-T is good, but not as strong as the bar stock. I've seen the tubular Luverne hit a deer at 60 and just barely touch the fender.

You may want to check some junkyards, I believe that the Z71s of that generation came with grill guards standard, not sure if that's the style you're looking for or not, but I always liked 'em. My dad had a 98 or 99, I think that was still the same body style, I don't remember when that style started, but I know the Z71s came with black grill guards, nerf bars, and taillight guards.
