Cant find anywhere you can actually buy any.. atleast not in the size I need, they are all 40"+
A friend and I are going to be working on a... I guess you could say toy, I need some propellers around 20"-24" (or close) Would like variable pitch propellers.. but not sure if they make any that small unless maybe a large scale R/C ? no luck with google... someone here always knows something though, so I figured I'd give it a try here Thanks in advance

Your prob going to have to find a place that makes custom props for antique aircraft. I get mine from Hamilton Standard Propellers, Piqua, Ohio. And there not cheap, and very doubtfull your going to get an adjustable constant speed prop. Last one I got was almost $7,000.

You may also be able to purchase from overseas, particularly the former East Bloc nations... Check this little sizzler out... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlV8WJ6N3nU Edit: web addy at beginning of video indicates Czech origin.

hmm that vid is awesome! oh, and if its going to cost even $1000 just for one prop.. no way lol, I need 2 that I would prefer to be the regular variable speed (one way, not sure what its called) but they dont HAVE to be.. would just make things work alot better, and one that is reversing.. figured something from an r/c helicpter maybe??
the 18" sounds like that might do alright... so what exactly did you do with that ryan.hess??? I'm curious

Basically made what looked like a hang glider with a gas engine, similar to this:
But obviously much smaller. The only mods to the engine were cutting down the flywheel fins and screwing a prop adapter on. It could be hand started and had an incredible amount of thrust.
Stock, you can get about 1hp out of a 25cc 2 cycle. Mods can push it closer to 2hp. A cessna has about 15lb/hp power to weight ratio. You can do the rest of the math...
Or is this for a go kart?

I don't post much, but this is right up my alley, as I fly large R/C aircraft. For 24" props, you will have to look at the R/C industry. There are carbon fiber and wood props, a couple of the brands are Mejzlik and Bolly. I reccomend the Mejzlik, I have a 50cc (5hp) motor that will turn a 22x8 at 7000 rpm, with 30 lbs of static thrust at sea level.
You wont find variable pitch, unless you have alot of money.
What are you guys going to build? is it a big secret?
I carve propellers for small application engines for use on hovercraft. I am not doing it as a business now but I can point you in the right direction to do it yourself if you are interested. In fact I may have something from a past project that might suit your needs if you can be more specific.

it will be in the same class as an ultralight, similar to a helicopter, kinda hard to explain... I'm still not sure exactly how I'm going to bould it.. but it will obviously need to have some props that give some pretty good thrust. so an adjustable pitch would be good to mess with.. as for a motor... I'll find something lol
edit: I do need some smaller ones at first, I'm going to make an r/c version first for testing and I have most everything but propellers. so I will need some smaller ones at first.. I'm sure I can get them at a local radioshack (they sell nitro r/c's and things too, not just crap haha)
