I was given an abandoned self propelled Snapper push mower. Newish looking shape. With a bag. I poured a little gas in it and it fired right up on the third pull. Everything works. So I fill it up and the gas tank is leaking. It is plastic incorporated into the engine cover/shroud. I am thinking JB Weld or JB Quick will seal it. It is leaking on a seam. What do you think ? I am fixin to go buy something.

I was taught in the Army that if 100 mile an hour tape or 5 50 cord can't fix it......It ain't worth fixin' (JB Weld is acceptable if you're doing mechanics work.)

I have three of those tanks sitting here right now, I think they are the same ones, 5 and 6 hp B&S.
I can put one in a box and send it to you, but I am not sure what the post office will allow. If I put it in a garbage bag, then a baggy, then seal it in a box they shouldn't complain, and it should be super cheap to send.
lemme know, but I am not sure when I will be online again.

Free is good, . $4.95 for some JB Quick and I have a nice self propelled Snapper 5hp mower with a bag. It is ironic. I paid $300.00 for a motorized tread mill so my wife could walk her butt. At her request. She used it maybe twice. She wants it set up inside in the air conditioning, with a TV mounted above it. I tell her the idea of exercising is to work, and sweat. So, she has used it maybe twice. This mower starts on the first wife pull. She has been wanting a push mower. You should see her now, . Anyone want to buy a tread mill and a riding mower ?

Thank you Brad. I also took another Snapper, 6hp, but I will look at it later. The tanks were different.

I forgot. Tell me about plastic welders. I have been interested in them. What can I make with one ? What are their ideal usages ? Who/what companies use them ?

My brother bought one of those plastic welders, a total piece of junk. Save yer money!
JB Weld might work, getting it to stick to plastic is generally the only obstacle. On motorcycle plastics (and some Fiero stuff, too) I've had good luck with Super Glue (Walmart auto dept. 6 little tubes for 97 cents) and baking soda. Drip a little glue on the area to be mended, then powder with baking soda, repeat the process and build it up. Super strong, and the baking soda crosslinks the super glue fibers.
Any scent of gas and it's likely a HAZMAT if they will ship it at all. If it starts stinking in the middle of transit then they could come back and really scream, maybe arrest you, for illegally shipping HAZMAT.
It's a plastic tank. Wash it out with soap and water then dry it good. You may have to wash it twice. Use dish or liquid laundry soap.
