I hate computerized carbs let alone French ones with a Rochester badge. OMFG I can't get a adapter either witht buying a whole kit from weber that cost like $400 and a replacment POS Varajet runs $400+ and ALL I need is the damn adaper plate and weber will not just sell me the plate but they will for every other engine engine/carb combo but not the E2SE varajet 2 Carb.

OK I hate auto parts monopoly and I want to hurt some one

Anger managment sux

Isn’t technology great?

Lets control anything and everything with the computer, low tech rules, put a dam holly, edelbrock on there.

------------------
Technology is great when it works,
and one big pain in the ass when it doesn't.
Detroit iron rules all the rest are just toys.

The early CCC carbs can be a pain, but I'll take a "Computer controlled" EFI daily driver over a carb engine any day.

84fiero123, for not liking computers and the "idiot net" as you call it, you sure seem to like PFF alot.

I also hate Holley and Rochester. Everyone Ive known is constantly readjusting them every week. Carter AFB/ Edlebrock is the only ones worth a crap..set and forget.

I had an old Monty Carlo that had various electronic connections on the carb and electronic advance. I ended up ripping it all out and putting on an Edelbrock with a vacuum advance distributor I got from the junker. I got a Holley first but was so frustrated by it I sold it almost right away, it didn't even have the proper vacuum ports for a vacuum advance dizzy, and the secondaries sucked. At the time I didn't want to deal with the darned computer and I just wanted to get it running. Worked quite well actually, just didn't like the cold.

I want to swap the E2SE with a Weber and even then they will not sell me the adaptor. If I had my way I would swap in a new intake with the spare edelbrock 600 I have but to do that on this damn engine I have to swap cylinder head, exhaust manifold but it will give more power.

I hate the concept of taking something already complicated but reliable (Carburetor) and make it more complicated and restiricting tuning by adding a computer to control it all. "RETARDED"

My great grandfather told me about his old cars with 3 on the tree and hand cranks and spark advance dials and it made me think about how simple cars are now to drive. We have lights for everything from seatbelts to "its been 10000 miles replace my oil" . I have always had a carbureted car and I don't mind tuning mixture for the change of weather or pulling a choke to start in the morning or even keeping a an of starting fliud in hand. But since I am blessed with th simplicity that is the Fiero's wiring I don't have to worry much about it, except if a temp sensor goes out my car will run like ass which doesn't make any sence at all. The one excuse I hear on this board is "Its a 20 year old car" that dosn't cut it for me or my 30 year old car that has had far less problems than my 20 year old car. I like things simple but also logical so computerized cars and women will always escape me. I like adjusting idle, mixture, timing with just a 1/2 open end wrench and a flat head screwdriver and god forbid my fuel pump goes out I just pull 2 14mm bolts 2 hose clamps and swap in a new one in 30min.

I find it easier to work on foriegn cars intended for short fingered **** than a 80's GM with a 80's GM computer and engine. I feel really bad for you people in emission states because I lived in Atlanta (gwinnett) and they told me my 83 camaro with a 350 non egr and no cat was illegal so I bought a 78 CJ5 jeep that was 25 and exempt from emission laws. But now I live in FL where I cut cats out, bypass or eliminate smog pumps, bypass emission vacumes, and punt charcoal canisters into the garbage then I tune till I get flames out of the exhaust at peak rpm and a low rumble a idle. I have a 76 cosworth DOHC 4cyl that I plan on running 30+psi with megasquirt and DIS and produce a flat 400hp between 5000-9000. I like having FULL control of every function of my vehicle I just hate loosing that control because a 16yr old girl doesn't know any better and here in america we cater to the idiots. I couldn't get my license at 16 until I could do a tune up, replace a tire, and show competence with a vehicle and that was on top of defensive driving, safety driving school, drivers ed, and spend 48hrs with my father at the fire dept on calls in the orlando/UCF area. I will never drive under the influence nor have I since I watched a man die with a 4ft splinter through his chest after crashing into a telephone poll.

I had dozens of Mopars over the years and every winter went thru the same thing. Nearly every one would start in the cold, die once and restart. A few revs and you were on your way. Not a big deal. When fuel inj first came out, heaven help you if you should happen to flood it in 10* weather. Usually ones I had, I had to pull out the plugs, take them in the house and blow them dry to try again. If I didnt take them out, it was let the car set a few days and try it then. Given a choice, Id still take a carb even if they do get sometimes 1/2 the gas mileage. When I blow up the Magnums Hemi, they do have a crate Hemi for it that comes with an Edlebrock carb ready to run with a new wiring harness that will be going in...and its $1,000 less than the fuelie.

While I agree that Edelbrock makes a better carb these days, I really have no gripes about my Holley 8007. It does not fall out of tune. The only thing I've had to adjust, once it was set up, is the idle mixture screws which is a 30 second job. What I do not have, is the electric choke. That is the main gripe about Holley carbs in my book.

As for gas mileage, by Holley 4 barrel does as well as my MPFI did
