ok guys i just got a 86 firebird for free from a friend, has a 2.8 and auto. havn't driven it yet but its not a daily car anyway.
i was wondering if anyone knows about the door handle linkages? both doors do not open from outside, i'm thinking that it is the plastic clips holding the linkages that just colapsed from age. does anyone have any other possibliitys before i tear into it. thanks matt

it most likely is the rod disconnected from the latch if I had to guess I would say someone tried to use a slim jim on them and pulled the rod loose (but dont ask me how I would know about that) but did learn a better way to get in after she locked the keys in the car while it was pouring down cold rain at 2 in the morning lol

Take a door pad off and look, sounds like the above but without looking it is really imposible to be sure.

If it is the lift up latch handle it can be broke where the linkage hooks to it. I have seen that often. They used some crappy pot metal on some parts back then. That and the design must not have been that good because it is a common problem.
