Don't get me wrong - I believe in standing up for our troops. I just feel awful when people act out of ignorance.
Like the guys that killed the gas attendant back in 2001 because he was wearing a turban. (he was seik). After 9/11, I worked out of NJ for a year or so, while they were repairing our building. This guy used to pump my gas pretty much every day.(long commute, small Fiero gas tank) One day, another guy is there instead, and there's a makeshift memorial. Guys pulled up, shouted aomething anti-muslim, shot him, and sped off. they didn't rob him. he wasn't muslim. Ignorance. Sad.
Don't remember if they caught the guys or not.

I suspect Falcon4 will have an entirely different perspective a year from now...but if the drill sergeants pick up on your current views, F4, it may be the longest eight weeks you've ever seen.
And btw, if we fought the war for the oil, why are we still paying so much for gas? I mean, we DID conquer the country, right? We now have our own tap into middle east oil, right? So where is the profit? Why do we have a record deficit? I suppose in a roundabout way, you could say it was fought for oil, if you mean we want a stable world in which to do business with the governments over there...unfortunately, a small percentage of fanatics are getting press disproportionate to their numbers, and instead of settling our political differences here at home AFTER we all pulled together to win it, our shameless politicians on both sides of the aisle are so focused on getting their way, that all our blood and treasure spent in this mess may be for naught. The media and the American people (myself included, and I am ashamed of it) are just as much to blame, for the same reasons, while the best, most loyal, and most courageous part of our youth is bleeding and dying. We need to get the job done, get it done quickly, with maximum effort, and once our troops are home, THEN we can argue about who was right or wrong, and talk about how to avoid similar situations. I'm done now.
