Just today, when I go to the site's main page, I get this message:
If I hit X, it crashes the browser. If I hit OK, it crashes the browser. It won't let me not click it. I only got here because the links to the subpages were in my browser history. I'm using IE 6.0.2900.2180 I don't want to install Firefox because it crashes my computer everytime I install it and I have to start in safe mode and disable it from the startup menu.
I NEVER SAW THAT PARTICULAR ERROR MESSAGE ON PFF, BUT TRY TURNING OFF SCRIPT DEBUGGING FROM 'TOOLS" "INTERNET OPTIONS", "ADVANCED". (ADD A CHECKMARK). YOU MAY ALSO WANT TO CHANGE YOUR ACTIVE-X SECCTING UNDER "SECURITY SETTINGS" IN YER "TOOLS" "INTERNET OPTIONS" "SECURITY" AREA (CUSTOM SETTINGS)
I AM SHOUTING!!!!!!! I AM SHOUTING!!!!!! TOO MUCH COFFEE!!!!!!!
After I got into my PM's to read my one new PM from a browser history link, I went back to the main page and the box was gone. Maybe when Cliff fixed the PM notification sound for Firefox users, it changed something else? Script debugging has been turned off, and the activex controls are set to disable or prompt.

The ActiveX Control allows only X numbers of posts. That is why it crashed your browser. You are a post whore. j/k but you should know that. I don't even know how to ask for computer advice much less give any.
Really? Damn! I clicked on it and it got into my computer, erased my hard drive, broke into my house and beat my cat, and stole all the money that Nigerian prince promised me.

you shouldnt be getting an activex control on pff since its perl................its possible but not a very common mix.
i would try a virus/spyware scanner.
Umm... perl is a programming language, ActiveX is a client-side scripting system... same as Javascript in PHP. You can mix and match whatever languages you want.
In this case your computer probably isn't taking the new-PM WAV file very kindly - you probably have some plugin assigned to WAV files (or whatever Cliff pulled out of his sleeves today ) that isn't playing nice with IE. If you've got RealPlayer... well, shame on you, then uninstall it completely, forget it even existed. There should be a way to see what programs are tied to what IE functions, but... alas, I haven't seen one that I can remember. =\

Generally people who use perl dont have activex embedded in their page. I didnt say that activex doesnt mix with perl (activePerl). ActiveX is like a java applet, nothing like javascript.
edit: just for reference, javascript is a client side scripting language used by the browser. ActiveX is its own seperate container (program) within the os. ActiveX can link to other programs such as Access, excel, and most other Microsoft programs, javascript is only supposed to be used on the client browser. This is why you can download windows updates with IE and not FF.

No, I hate that damn thing. I have wav files set up to open with Windows media player.
Ok, because GoogleBar causes all kinds of errors.
Well, it might have something to do with the way I "embed" a wav file when you have new private messages. Do you get the error when you are logged out (or when you don't have any new private messages)?
