Having a few friends over tomorrow night. King carb legs are on sale for $7.95/pound. How many pounds for 4 people. 2 guys and 2 gals. We have all you can eat crab legs localy for around $21 per person. So if I get 8 pounds that is $64.00. That should be about one pound of meat per person. Wonder if it is worth doing or going out instead?

My guess is that most resturants give you 1 pound of legs on a dinner plate. So if you have 8 pounds on hand you guys (and gals) will be having quite a feast. Do you have room for one more.

About 1 - 1 1/2 lbs per person should do it, depending on what else you're serving with it. If you do something heavy with it then a pound per should be plenty. If you're doing something light better plan on the high side. I usually do grilled asparagus when I serve king crab legs. Or whole artichoke also makes a nice side for crab.

Oh, but isn't it such a grand experience?

Cracking a countless number of crab legs, that come out in one piece, dipped in butter...

It's frickin' heaven on earth...

Never had Crab...
Kinda leary about it...

My last experience with Seafood like that, was a Lobster when I was 12...

It was overcooked, rubbery, and just generally nasty tasting.

Have not touched it or crab since, and don't think I ever want to...

Lobster/Crab... Underwater Cockroaches... lol

When I was growing up west of Seattle, my dad would bring fresh Dungeness King Crab home about every six months. He'd make a horseradish based sauce you would be burping for three days. First time I had it (maybe 6 years old) I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. Only problem, spoiled me and no way I can eat crab that has been frozen. Kinda hard to find fresh King Crab here in FL.

I love dungeoness. I like it better than king, it's sweeter. Mmmmm, dipped in melty butter with a little lemon juice in there. Yummo.

My microwave frozen fish sticks seem woefully pathetic now.

Wait a minute, can King Crab legs be deep-fried?

well I'll put this in thought.. if you have 2 guys like myself and dave gunsul you better bring more

last time we went to red lobster we both nailed down 9 plates of shrimp, salad, baked tater (me) fry's for dave and some biscuits. Hey we had to get our money's worth!

sounds like you got a pretty good game plan either way

Lobster and crab legs don't compare. They are two totally different textures and flavors. I like them both. But the only problem I have with crab legs is you could starve to death by the time you get all the meat out. You definitely have to work for your food. Lobster and crab both are completely nasty if overcooked. And you are correct about Lobster, they are giant underwater cockroaches, as well as crayfish.

Obviously a rookie King crab eater. Take a pair of scissors. Just cut them lengthwise. Piece of cake.

Do those come off a Dominator or a Quadrajet??

All kidding aside, take 'em out. If the food somehow goes wrong, YOU don't get the blame, and no cleanup afterward; you guys are free to find other entertainment after dinner.
