My little German Hunt Terrier, Wynonna, was rushed into veterenary emergency surgery this morning with a bowel obstruction. Her blood pressure was real low and they gave her a 20% chance of surviving the surgery.
By 1 pm she was through surgery and into recovery. They say she now has an 80+ % chance over the next 24 hours.
Thank God.
Cost of saving this dog: $800, but worth every penny.

As of this evening she is on heavy pain killers and sleeping mostly. Vet says the next 24 hours will tell the tale but she seems to have a good chance at a full recovery
I hope she comes through it okay. You (and she) have my best wishes; I know how it feels.
When Quenzelle (my English Setter mix) had to have surgery back in 2000 she spent 3 days at the vet specialists 60 miles from home. I couldn't go a half hour at a time without my mind wandering off hoping she was doing okay. I can't describe the relief I felt the night we got to bring her home safe and sound (albeit minus one ear). Not that she wasn't appreciated before that, but the next four years I just felt much more thankful to have her cold nose welcoming me home every day after work.

Wynonna is up and walking around although you can tell there is still pain. The vet will likely release her Friday.
She was happy to see us, we went to visit this afternoon. Still not eating but that is just a matter of time the vet says as she has had her stomach opened up (ouch!). She is taking ice now and still has the IV in. She is also going out side under her own power to bathroom.

Wonderful news!! I remember when Zwerver came home, after 10 days in the animal hospital. We thought we were going to lose him, but he pulled through. Ellie and I were in tears of joy when he came out, all covered in bandages, and ran to us with a loud whimper... And here we are now, 6 months and $2200 later, and he is fine..for now. That is the nature of his disease. I know you will probably shed a tear or two as well, when she sees you coming to take her home. Just love her, and give her a special cuddle from Ellie and me too...and Zwerver, Chippie and Chevy!! ..oh. not to forget our newest friend, Fiera the stray cat HOORAY!!!! Nick

Called the vet this morning. Wynonna is much better and taking food. She should be coming home after 5 this evening. Hooray!
Hot Damn thats good news.
Vet bills can kill ya so I got full coverage health insurance on my dogs. About 33 bucks a month each. One way or another it pays for itself. Krazy thing is I have had insurance for the dogs before I had insurance for myself. I guess I have my prioritys.
Wynonna made it home last night. We arrived at the vet around 6 pm and in her excitement at seeing us she somehow undid all her stitches (ouch). So the vet took her in and redid the stitches and then fitted her with a "jetson's collar" to make sure she did not do it again.
She is on bed rest for three days, special food for three days as well as antibiotics and something for her belly.
All in all an amazing little fighter!
Will post pics later today sometime. She looks awful funny in the jetson collar
