Just got some used Little Tikes outdoor stuff (the big blow molded plastic stuff) and one of the slides is cracked. Is there a way to repair and repaint these? Are there any websites out there that show how? I believe they are made of low density polyethylene. Can I fiberglass it? How about bumper repair epoxy?

It is possible you can plastic weld it back together. I've done quite a bit of plastic welding, but not to that type of material. I guess first you will want to determine if it can be welded. If not you may have to use nuts and bolts or buy a new one. see here for plastic welding info >> http://www.plasticsmag.com/welding.asp?fIssue=Nov/Dec-00&aid=3052

Check Eastwood Company. They have a plastic welding kit. Just don't know for what particular kinds of plastics. LDPE is kind of flimsy stuff as far as heat goes. Fiberglass may be one option but LDPE and fiberglass flex differently. So the first time the little tikes go down the slide, the fiberglass might crack. Fiberglass may not stick to LDPE either. Don't know. If all else fails, call the manufacturer and hope they do a little more than try and sell you a new one.

If you know a guy at a GM dealership body shop, they have 2 part solvent that comes in a plastic applicator gyzmo that will weld bumper panels or air dams really quickly and permanently. This is proprietory stuff. It works on flexible plastic panels.

I took my air dam in and asked if they would help, and one of the body guys produced this stuff. It went on like clear silicone but it got really hot before it dried, which was in about 5 minutes.

Hope this helps.

We have had all those Little Tikes stuff.

There is a 1-800 number on ours, just find it, call them and they will just send you a new peace, free of charge.
