I know a lot of people here sell on Ebay. I just received a new type of spam and I don't want anyone to get scammed by it.

I get Ebay related emails multiple times a day. There are two ways I use to determine which are the legit Ebay emails and which are from jerks trying to get my password or whatnot.

1) For the record, I've never sold a laptop on Ebay, I don't have any angry customers who want to report me and I don't end auctions early. However, I get scam emails with these topics (and more) just about every day.

2) At the top of a legit Ebay email, there are the lines "eBay sent this message to ... Your registered name is included to show this message originated from eBay". I've received spam with "eBay sent this message from ..." and "eBay sent this message to ..." (with the wrong name included).

However, this email references a item I have currently for sale. That initially made me think it was legit.

Then I saw the "eBay sent this message to ..." line. It had my Ebay ID there instead of my name.

This is pretty sneaky and it almost got me. I just want to make sure it doesn't get anyone here.

I've been getting those for a long time...probably a year. I just forward them to spoof@ebay.com and delete the message.

I don't even click on the "respond" in ebay emails... I just go to ebay and do it there.
