i'm working on some stereo/tv stands i've had for a while and working on the tv shelf on the top. i planned to use some aluminum sheeting i have sandwiched bettween two pieces of wood for help with shielding them from components and the stands themselves (had a speaker sitting on one that magnetised it some).
but i just thought, since aluminum has no magnetic properties it's self (non ferrous i think it's called?), will it work as a magnetic shield? i'm already at the point of gluing aluminum in, but if i find out i need like sheet metal or something i can stop and work that into the sandwich too.
thanks for any help.

ok thanks. i ended up with a laminate of 3/4' particle board attatched to the brackets that bolt to the stands, then a layer of this material i got thats about 1/8' plastic sandwiched bettween two thin sheets of aluminum (kinda lucked across it. maybe 3/16' thick overall), then a thin layer of plywood (maybe 3/16-1/4"), some thin guage sheet metal, topped with a rubber treadway type belting the tv will sit on without slipping around ('cause the tv's sit about 5.5' off the ground).
i put a tv on the magnetised stand and still saw some slight discoloration right at the bottom of the picture, but nowhere near as bad as before. i'm going to go with it and if absolute color accuracy is an issue (like on a swimsuit or something), i can just look at the tv on the other stand.
