Understand that phones are often messed with by the phone companies. The telco may have fixed it intentionally to keep you from doing that. There have been at least one or two class action law suits over this. People buy a phone they think has one set of features and the telco has screwed with it and disabled stuff or given it other features. Like what Verizon pulled on Vcast where they disabled playing MP3 when you subscribed to Vcast.
You need to look into what if anything people have found messed with by your telco on that model phone.
