As many of you probably know... most screen savers just duplicate themselves when you have a dual monitor system. This includes the included XP screen savers.
Some of you may not know... When XP came out, MS did away with the OpenGL versions of the screen savers. 3D pipes etc have been changed.
However...
You can still run the OGL screen savers if you copy them from just about any old NT/W2K machine.
Do This...
On the donor NT/W2K machine...
Copy the open GL screen savers to a folder/disk. (These are all the 3D ones... Pipes, flower box, and flying object.)
Rename the files. I put a 2 on the end or in place of the last character. (The files must use the 8.3 naming format to work properly.)
Copy the renamed files into C:\Windows\System32 under XP. (All versions if you have the default install.)
Now when you go into the screen saver tab, you'll see 3D Pipes and 3D Pipes (OpenGL).
All of the OpenGL screen savers will span the screens as one space. OGL Pipes etc will draw as if you had one very large screen.
Note... I'm told XP might have deleted OpenGL support from the default MS video drivers. Most people should be running the actual drivers from the system board or Vid card makers, which always include OpenGL support that I've seen. If the OpenGL screensavers don't work then you may need to update Video drivers. (If they don't work for you, nothing else that uses OpenGL will work either.)
Easter Egg: In 3D Pipes (OpenGL Only.) set the joint type to mixed. This will periodically throw an odd object as a pipe joint.
