I tried and tried for about 3 months to find a Fiero that made me feel something and just couldn't find one that did it for me. I was really considering a members V8 t-top but it got wrecked. I also contacted the guy that bought my 88GT and made him a very reasonable offer, but he decilned...which I completely understand. He had also put 10k miles on it in about a year....I didn't put 6k on it in 5 years!!! At least he is enjoying it and taking great care of it. Only after I bought this, did MrFiero put his N* convertable up for sale....and now V8Archie has his 328 up for sale (at an incredible price too). I have always been a 57 fan and bought a 57 Wagon after I sold my last Fiero....but it just didn't fit me so I only had it about 9 months. My dad had a 57 4-dr hard top when he was a kid, and had always missed that car and talked about it a lot when I was growing up, which is how I am sure the bug for me to get on got planted. I got a GREAT deal on this 57 Bel-air Gold and am loving it. Its in very good shape mechanically, having only about 2k miles on the drive train, 95% of the interior is new, and the paint is the same color as my truck and Gold Wing....Iove to have a matching set. It currently has 4.56 gears, which I will be changing out VERY soon to something more streetable. Ill also be adding a brake booster....its hard to believe how people stopped these things back in the 50's. Lots of pics here: http://www.picturetrail.com/falcon572

My parents first car which they bought in 1960 was a 1955 Chev Bel-Air 2-dr sedan (straight six, three on the tree). I was five years old at the time (I was the same age as the Bel-Air) and I still have fond memories of it. I completely understand why you wanted to get an old Chev from the 50's.
We should have a poll on those bumpers. Chrome or paint? I vote for chrome. (I still like the car a lot though!)

Love the new ride. Nice backdrop I miss the Peak and hope to see it again soon. '57's are always cool. Good car for cruising Nevada Blvd. Fiero's can be hard to find in Colorado unless you want a project car and even then there's not much. I had to go to Denver to get mine when I lived in the Springs. It took a while to get it running then the piston rings failed after I moved down here to Alabama. Been trying to put a Quad4 in it but grad school is getting in the way. But i hope to have it running this spring. Hope you can get a booster on it soon disk brakes are a pain to stop without one. Enjoy the Ride!

Looks GREAT. You will have a ton of fun in that. The first thing I saw was the painted bumpers. I agree....replace them with chrome. If you eliminated the bumpers and put rolled pans with some nerf bars, paint would look fine. I always liked 55-57 chevys myself.........but Im one to like stuff different and theres just way too many of them around. One guy that always comes to local shows has one just like it looking completely stock bodied except for a blower sticking up and wide slicks. He got a 502 supercharged with a 6-71 and putting out like 800 hp.
The 57 has always been one of if not my favorite car. And this car is beautiful, but I agree with Roger. I would either go with rollpans or back to chrome with those bumpers.
I actually like the painted bumpers better....give the car a little more contemporary look. I already have an estimate to repaint it for $3500.....I'd rather not have to add another $1500 in bumpers....besides, I can always add that later.
I do agree, there are a lot around....2 in my neighborhood alone. I do like the uniqueness that this particular body style was only available ONE year. To me that is pretty cool.

I knew exactly what you meant. I was just teasing you.
I'm from the old school. I believe cars from the 50's and 60's which originally had chrome bumpers should retain the chrome bumpers. It's part of the overall package. The chrome bumpers match the chrome trim. On the other hand, I think my '94 Hyundai Elantra looks great with painted bumpers. To me it just looks weird to have painted bumpers on old cars. Dare I say it "cheapens" a classic car.
But hey, diversity is the spice of life! The younger crowd have grown up with painted bumpers. Enjoy your car whichever way it pleases you. Us old farts can do as we wish with our own cars.
