Ok so we all come from different places, and have different favorites… but we are (mostly all) American… and the rest are still humans so inevitably we all love or at the very least like the hamburger. So lets share in this! Tell us what is your favorite variation of this tasty treat? And where in your local area can you find the best ones made?
Ill first, my favorite variation is a hamburger with 2 types of cheese, bacon, lettuce and tomato and the best part a fried egg. This is with out a doubt my fav. I used to make it as a kid then recently found out red robin makes one… not bad, but my original was better.
Now the best place to get a hamburger is at Rocket Eddy’s in Keego Harbor MI, don’t be fooled by its common place appearance like so many things its not what’s on the out side the counts but what’s inside. They make the best sliders on the planet, and I’m willing to taste any naysayer’s imitations.
Your turn.

Without a doubt the best burger I've ever had is at a little old fashioned drive in by the name of "Don's Drive In" in Oakley, KS. It's about 125 miles from me and I have been known to arrange my schedule if I'm withing 50 miles of Oakley to get there at some meal time just to get a Burger from Don's.

You know John, you are right. Whether burgers, chicken fried steak, or mexican food, the "greasy spoons" do have very good food. I have gone out of my way to go back to one.

I'd have to say Fuddruckers. I like getting a 1/2 pounder and loading it with all the condiments. And then eat it with a root beer float and some french fries with a little tub of cheddar cheese.

White Castles. I first had them when I was at a party in the Bronx, NY. back in the late 70's. Even the wooden fork for the fries was tasty. I can still get them here in CT at the supermarket, but they don't taste as good as fresh ones.
The best burgers I ever had were at a chain called "Silver Streak" in El Paso, Texas. I've been told however that they shut down some time ago now Next best would be the Paul Bunyan burger, at Antlers resturant in Sault St. Marie, Michigan (the farthest east you can get in the northern penninsula).
Wendy's...MMMMM...nice and greasy. BTW, I too have purchased White Castle burgers several times in the frozen food section and when I came to Cleveland I lucked out and found one. The fresh burgers didn't taste much better than the frozen. Yuck.

For a national chain, I'm with Raydar, I really like Steak 'n Shake. I think their burgers beat Johnny Rocket's hands down and their shakes are GREAT.
If we're going beyond burgers, I challenge anyone in the WORLD to find a better steak than they serve at Meridy's restaurant in Russell, KS. I have pilot friends that have come from as far away as South Africa and NOBODY has ever had a better steak, anywhere. One friend lives in Las Vegas and has been known to fly 500 miles out of his way to pop in for a steak when he's even remotely in the area. You have to try them to believe it.

Wendy's often confuses "hot and juicy" with "slightly warm and greasy" around here.

I was talking about my favorite burger with the wife just two days ago. When I lived in Abilene Texas, there was a chain called "Mr G" . They had the greasiest, burgers, but they were soooooo good! It was one of those places that was not a dine in resturaunt, but you either walked up, or drove thru to place an order.
If I ever make it back to Abilene, I will HAVE to get one.
If you haven't had one, you don't know what your missing.
Not sure I know what "animal style" is....but I have to agree In & Out is the BEST when it comes to good, fresh food quick.....They really aren't fast since everything is made to order, but they definately always use fresh unfrozen ingrediants and the taste really comes out.
As for the BK burger, they never had it out here in Cali, about the closest MIGHT be the big king which was BK's answer to the big mac.
I have to say the best thing about the white castle bugers (frozen) is that they're small......any small animal should be able to eat the ones you weren't able to.
I New Orleans there is a little diner that has a Hotsy Burger, 1/4 pound Hamburger mixed with 1/4 pound hot sausage. Then topped with 1/4 puond melted Blue cheese. All on fresh (still warm from the oven) buns that are big enough for the burger. Makes me want to drive the 12 hours down there for one now. Brad
I agree, BUT... Rally has better fries I think. Best is on the grill at home!
Hey cool, a fellow L.A. guy, I hear Rallys is pretty good also, I always see their ads but I have never seen a Rally around here in L.A./Alhambra/Pasadena.
Get some dried out chillie pepers. Mix about two of them crushed up into the inside of the meat pattie. When they cook on the grill, they will rehydrate and make it spicy.
The flavor is awsome when you do this!
Oh yeah, if you cant handel hot food dont do it. I put about 3-4 dried peppers in mine. I like um hot!

What a coincidence! I never heard of Fuddruckers until just a few minutes ago I was checking some stuff out and learned they are opening like 6 of them here this year. So I guess I have to check them out.
My favorite burger is my own on the grill or the 7 Layer Borrito at Taco Bell, since I often times "think outside the bun"
I have to agree with the "In n Out" burgers and the "Johnny Rocket" burgers. Not only are the burgers always really tasty, but the cashiers almost always speak english, and smile and are generally friendly.
------------------ 87 Fiero GT Fastback Remanufactured 3.1 w/ 13k miles on it now. 5 speed getrag with about 76k on it.
Also for In & Out, you can order animal style fries, basically it's their burger's special sauce on top of the fries with a layer of melted cheese..... ummmm soo much fat and grease yet so yummy.

Your all wrong, can't go wrong with a Mcdonalds hamburger all 1/10 lb of "meat" between 2 flattened pieces of frozen buns, dehydrated onions, shot of ketchup and mustard, and one flimsy pickle slice.
