I found a fun project car recently I'm thinking of purchasing - a rust free 1980 caddy eldorado in baby blue with matching blue interior, no rips or anything - 80,000 miles on the odometer, said to be in fine mechanical shape (Registered and saftied!). Going to look at it tomorrow probably. He wants about $800 (USD) for it.

I know nothing about older caddys, and just think this would be a fun car to play with. Is there any reason I should be wary of this car? I know 1981-85ish (Can't remember exact year) caddies had that strange and incredibly troublesome 8 cyl engine which run on 4,6 or 8 cyls when the car didn't need all its power, but can't find anything particuarly bad about the 350 5.7 -

Thanks

That sounds cool Wichita! The only erason I'm considering this car is because it is located pretty close to me (20 minutes or so) and is pretty damn cheap. Just worried about buying a lemon or something.

I have a 89 Eldorado and I love it runs like a top even with 130k on it . The 4-6-8 was a bad motor I would avoid that the others I have heard no real horror story's on . MtVilla

That's good to hear. If I purchase this car I'm thinking I may even consider converting it to a convertible. I don't know if that's common or not, but there are few things cooler then a baby blue caddy convertibel

You may want to look at the Buick Riviera and Olds Toronado reviews also.
