So, I know how to hook up most things audio, heck most things electronic, but when it comes down to the specs, I'm kind of at a loss for some things. I am looking at getting one of these two Audiobahn subs for my car, because they are the only ones that put out 300 watts RMS, everything else is 200. And after having my 10" in my car for the longest time, I am looking for the highest powered sub as far as an 8" is concered, so hopefully it will kind of be as loud as my 10. Any way, enough of my blabbering, here are the two subs that I am looking at:

Here's the first one, can get from Ebay for about 75 shipped. It's the A800Q

Magnet Weight 80 oz.
Power Handling 300 Watts RMS
Frequency response 34Hz - 1kHz
Efficiency 89.8dB
Voice Coil 2" Dual 4 Ohm
Operation 2 or 8 Ohm
Mounting Depth 4 3/8"
Hole Cutout 7 1/4"
Outer Diameter 8 1/2"
PHAT 2” EPDM Surround
Non-Pressed Non-Transfer Paper Cone
KM3 Coated for Virtually no Cone Distortion
Multi-connect Lug Lock Terminals

And the next, I can get this one for about 100 bucks shipped. Its the ALUM8P

8" ALUM Series Subwoofer
80 oz. Magnet
Power Handling: 350 watts R.M.S.
Frequency Response: 30Hz ? 1kHz
Efficiency: 91.3dB
PHAT 1.75" EPDM Rubber Surround
Spun Aluminum Cone
3" 4-Layer ASV Voice Coil
Dual 6 Ohm
3 Ohm or 12 Ohm Operation
Mounting Dimensions: Depth; 4-3/4" Hole; 7 1/4" Diameter; 8-1/2"
Multi-connect Lug Lock Terminals

So which one is better, and has anyone used Audiobahn products before, do you like them, hate them, indifferent?

Let me know your opinions.
Eric

Audiobahn tends to "over rate" their speakers. Don't let the extra 100 watts fool you. I've got a pair of Audiobahn 4x10's that say 100watts RMS, and I don't think I'd ever put anything above 50RMS on them. Other then that, they're decent speakers. Lots of flashy chrome if that's what your into. Just because it looks pretty, doesn't mean it's better. Remember: 9 outta 10 times, that chrome basket will be hidden inside a box for nobody to see. Another thing I've heard, sometimes Audiobahn products have minor defects, so you might need to return and swap for another one.

I have heard the Flame Q or something like that in a friends truck and they were alright. I personally like Kicker a lot more. IMO there ain't no sub out there that compares to Solo Barics(Except for W7 and IDMAX).

I used to be a major advocator of Audiobahn subs. I had a pair of AWC12x sub woofers that were EXCELLENT. They were 99 or 00 model. I have not seen any good speakers from them since. I tore one up in a weekend. If you want quality I recommend Kove. Kicker L7 series is an ok speaker. They move alot of air and have SPL, but they just sound sloppy to me. Too much sub to move. Also I dont like how they are measured and placed in competition. 15" subs are measured by their sides and not from corner to corner. 15^2 + 15^2 = 450. sqrt of 450 = 21", so it is not really fair to class a 15" square sub in the same category as a 15" round sub, when it really has the area of a 21" speaker. I also really like JL.

Yea, I'm not looking for flashy, as this will be tucked up under the dash in the stock sub location. So therefore, I can't use a solo-baric either, which I really would like to use. Anyone have opinions other than Kicker for a nice 8" sub?

I just checked Kove's website, they don't make an 8 inch sub. What other ones are good ones, again, aside from Kicker, I have nothing against them, I just already know they are a good brand.

edit 8" not 10"......ps you can go 6.5 or 6 if you just have your factory sub enclosure modified with a template to mount it on...look into that....tim..

Don't know about their subs, but my cousin bought a new Audiobahn amp and it was dead out of the box.

Sorry I didnt realize it needed to be an 8" sub. Try JL. I personally think that Rockford makes very low quality subwoofers. Their amps on the other hand are top notch.

I'll have to look into JL.

The sub will be going into my factory box, it has been modified to fit an 8 inch sub. Just has to be finished off with fiberglass now. Then I'll be bumpin' . . . . . as hard as an 8 in. sub can bump.

How many cubic feet is the factory box? I was under the impression it wasn't very big. Even a small box 8in will want .5-.75 feet^3. Also how much wattage are you planning on feeding it?

As for my opinion on the Audiobahn subs, they are low quality subs that have a high bling factor to make people think they're good.

the rms of this sub is correct but remember to follow the spec size for the box and do not underpower the sub . if the box size(i presume it will be sealed) is wrong it will cause the sub to distort . any gear cn be made to sound good and audiobahn is an ok brand . remember is not only whats you have ..... its how you use it .everyone has their personal favorites . mine are the pioneer flat piston 12" subs
