As the topic suggests, I have a screensaver with a nice song on it that I cant find in mp3 format. I was wondering if there was a way to extract the audio and convert it to an mp3 or wav or other audio file? Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, I downloaded a program that records whatever goes through the sound card into mp3s. I think its called Sound Capture, its not perfect but it works ok. You can probably find something on download.com that'll do what you want. Alot of things are just free trials, but that should be enough for what you want to do. If you need this thing I have let me know and I'll e-mail it to you, its only like 700 kilobites.

Throw it my way, I'll see what I can do..you could always save it the way Jake said it, or plug the line out from that PC into another pc's line in.
It may be a flash animation, in which case, the extraction is pretty easy...

what is the music of?

[little girl voice]What's a "cassette", daddy?[/little girl voice]

People used to load and save computer data onto cassettes. I used to play them in my stereo at high volume, so I could "hear the code"...

It sounded like droids being tortured.

It's little wonder my mom sent for the pastor.

An .SCR file is just an .EXE. They are no different.

One thing you might try is finding a program that will record what sound is being outputted. Just hit record on the player, turn on the screensaver, and then edit off the dead space at the beginning. OR if you can't find an audio program that will do that natively, you can just take a two-sided phono wire, plug one side into your line/speaker-out, and the other side into your mic input. Then you should be able to use any program that records sound to get it.

It'll still take a bit of editing to get the dead space off the beginning of that file too, but that's not terribly hard.

What screensaver is it?

Thanks guys, I'll try and find a program that will record any audio output. The screen saver is for the new movie Polar Express and the song is Josh Groban - Believe

I'm a big fan of Josh Groban and it seems that all of the files on kazaa or other programs are all fakes.

Would it be feasible to loop the sound output to the mic input (using a short cable)?
