that is a super bummer! I don't even believe he is dead it's just not possible. From the beginning i knew he would walk again.I just have always felt that. It's as though somebody bumped the cosmos and things got out of kelter because shouldn't have happened. It just seems wrong.
He was a rock of strenth.Unbelievable super powers if you ask me and if you don't think so just try and imagine what it takes to live after that.Just try i dare you.You can't come up with enough dispair to even come close.Where do you get the strength to go on when it is so much easier not to. He not only continues he triumphs and can't be stopped. He was well past what the experts said couldn't happen.Sheer force of will was his weapon.
Christopher not only helped himself he helped thousands of people by proving to them they could go on..He publicly plowed the way through the impossible. He championed success, perserverence and determination for all those that were overwhelmed with hopelessness.
I look back at the superman series and think he sure does fit the part.Silly plots and all the dorkyness of the show he was able to pull it together and make it seem noble.Well if their was any doubt before i don't think there is now.He had it in him the whole time.He didn't have to act like a hero it was natural for him.Perfect for the part he played.People may say the part made him but i don't agree.I think he made the part.
Christopher Reeve was more than just a actor and good man,He was the real Super Man
Just as there is good and evil, there is pokeyfiero and I'm Back !

Just for your edification, Imback, Aus is short for Australian. I don't know if they have a Republican party there or not, but I certainly know that his politics have nothing to do with ours. May Christopher Reeve rest in piece.

No, it's not. EdsB52 has shown that his only interest is in causing problems. He's even tried to turn a thread about the death of an actor into a political / religious thread. His only purpose here is to troll and start flame wars. It's long past time he was shown the door - AGAIN.
Ummm...to me it is. Why do you get to decide what is or isn't funny? It was also inapropriate for this thread but it was a little funny.

Funny or not, the problem isn't the picture. It's the fact that once again I'm Back takes a thread and turns it into a garbage fest. It's all he ever does...

It's all he's EVER done. Cliff god bless him must love the iratation becuase he left him back on. I treat him like I treat christian gospel radio stations ....move on and forget about it. Thiers nothing that ever comes from his hole that is worth spending time on. Give him a negative and soon he'll be off the sight.

not to be rude, and rip for reeve, but its very easy to say "he might walk again" when he had literally millions of dollars to throw at the problem. money which, im about 99% sure he wouldnt have ever used for said research if he hadnt gotten hurt. either way, keep it civil people! no need for flames over a dead guy(unless he wants to be cremated??? :-P )

Remember, my Bible-thumping friend, it is your Nazi party that he fought for the right to get stem cell research. Who has Reeve more against, me for posting that silly animation, or you for blocking his right ot walk/live? Get your priorities in order and read my reply to LZeitgeist.
Umm excuse me. I am neither a bible thumper (quite the opposite) or associated with any Nazi party. Get you facts straight. Stem cell research is allowed in this country so I think we as a whole over here was hoping it would help him and everyone needing help from this research. I suggest you get your brain in order before you worry about my priorities.

It may be true that spinal cord injuries were not Reeve's primary focus before his injury. But he had a long history of activism before and his injury merely changed the focus of his efforts.
From: http://www.chrisreevehomepage.com/biography.html "Reeve had been involved with [causes and charities] on the arts, environment, children, and human rights had equal priority for him with his career in the performing arts. A few of them are: Amnesty International, Save the Children, The National Resources Defense Council, The Lindbergh Foundation, The Environmental Air Force, and People for the American Way. He is a founding member and past president of the Creative Coalition, an advocacy group of artists, and has been one of the National Endowment For The Arts most passionate supporters. In 1987, he faced tear gas and real personal danger when Chilean writer Ariel Dorfman asked him to travel to Chile and lead a demonstration in support of 77 artists targeted with death warrants by the Pinochet government. For his successful efforts to free the artists, Reeve received a special Obie Award in 1988 and an annual award from the Walter Briehl Human Rights Foundation. The sobering experience also reinforced his commitment to advocacy work, which by the late 1980's was competing with his career for his time. Environmental issues have been of particular interest to Reeve. He addressed the United Nations to encourage the banning of drift net tuna fishing and he played a crucial role in securing a landmark agreement to protect the Hudson River and New York City's reservoir system."

Ed doesn't have a point other than to stir up crap. He slams Austrailia, Christians, and Republicans in a thread about Christopher Reeve. What possible point is there other than him being a troll?
Even if you disagree with stem cell research, it's still possible to respect the man for the way he lived his life. When even your opponents respect you, that says something about your character.
"He slams Austrailia..."
Huh..... make sense.
"Even if you disagree with stem cell research, it's still possible to respect the man for the way he lived his life. When even your opponents respect you, that says something about your character."
Which is my point, the right-wing would have CR dead to avoid stem cell research so they can save fertilized fetuses, which is their right to protest. But what the right-wing on this board don't want to fathom is that they are setting up a paradox of parody vs death for CR, and they're dishing out the death.
If CR could vote, he would have all the parody and joking aimed at him, but please don't screw with his stem cell research. What the right-wing does is to make a huge deal of silly little symbols like the cross and parody like this, but revoke the big things like life itself. This kind of mob mentality is what leads to injustices in our society. Look at you guys, gathering up your troops to get the mission done. The choice to kick out, "I'm Back" is solely up to Cliff based upon his decision to interpret your votes of popularity. Trust me, life still goes on whether I'm Back is on PFF or not. ironic thing is that probably well over 1/2 of the mob here, A) doesn't own a Fiero and, B) doesn't contribute to PFF but is in the good ole boys club. The theme of PFF was Fieros, but seems to be shifting to politics and a sort of a social club.
Instead of judging without, look within and use your advertised Christian beliefs - see if there is a contradiction.

How did Australia or you, Aus, ever enter this discussion? Is there a reference to Australia on the link to the pic? I wasn't including you in any way Aus and we have really gotten along - I would hope you wouldn't be part of the mob frenzy..... We used to talk on chat for periods of time, but that was a while ago.... oh well...

If I'm around I'll be on later to further expound on the origin of that pic and give a little deatil.
Do you honestly not get the fact that it wasn't the picture that pissed everyone off? Yeah, the pic was tasteless, but get a clue. You came into this thread with an agenda, as evidenced by your first post:

He demonstarted great strength fighting the RepubliNazi machine to get stem cell research, just as any/all of you Repugs would (flip-flop) do if a family member with Parkinsn's or another related condition.

A truely heroic man has passed away and as a community we cannot mourn the loss of someone who was an inspiration to so many people because of Ed. Gee, thanks for coming around and messing up what would have been a fine tribute to a hero for so many people. Ed, please go away.
Christopher Reeve, rest in peace.

Christopher Reeve IS Superman. I've always had great respect for the man. And in my eyes, he was the only person to play the part who actually FIT the part.
Rest In Peace Superman. You've earned it.

He WAS and inspiration NOT because he was an actor, but because he fought the skewed right-wing Christian maggot coalition to further stem cell research - for that he will forever be a hero, along with MJ Fox, Nancy Reagan, and many other great people. Do you really think whatever I say or do can diminish that?

“Do you honestly not get the fact that it wasn't the picture that pissed everyone off?”
It didn’t piss everyone off, but thanks for the embellishment – we don’t have enough of that around here.
“You came into this thread with an agenda, as evidenced by your first post:”
Actually no, when I posted the pic I was looking for info on CR as the thread was new and the news hadn’t yet reported it – I was still unsure if it was fact or not. No agenda, just looking around and stumbled on it.
“If/when you get booted, you can blame it on everyone over-reacting to the pic, if that makes you feel better.”
Again, my life will go on. Apparently there is a large contingency of people on PFF, most of whom don’t donate $$ to the operation of PFF, that feel they can direct PFF. Why is this? Because of the rating system. I think the rating sys did some good at first, but as our great Commander in Chimp (Bush) has done, the sys has created divide and a hierarchy.
“This is TO/T, so I don't expect the topic to be Fieros.”
Glad u weren’t let down.

First off, RIP Mr. Reeve. Your loss to the world both personal and professional will certainly be missed by your family, friends, fans and all your collegues.
----------------------------- "I'm Back", you're still unable to see the forest behind the trees, to why everyone is now jumping on you.
But hey, to everyone else, you may as well give up trying to point out where Ed started to goof up within this thread (Page 1; I'm Back's Posts: #2, #4 and #14...especially post count #14, to Ausfiero...classic...just classic Ed on how you couldn't comprehend what he stated and set out to attack him. Par for your course).
It is obvious within your denial Ed, that you are unable to comprehend the English language in its most simplistic form of word usage.
Ed, how old are you again?! I'm estimating since you returned that you are now about 42+ some years old?! Old adage goes, "You are never to old to grow up", or especially take responsibility for your actions. Go to Page 1, and count down 14 posts to your response to Ausfiero's post.
Never mind...I'll save you the time and repost it yet again for you here like somebody already did:

Ed's immidate, somehow provoked response: Remember, my Bible-thumping friend, it is your Nazi party that he fought for the right to get stem cell research. Who has Reeve more against, me for posting that silly animation, or you for blocking his right ot walk/live? Get your priorities in order and read my reply to LZeitgeist.
Break down of AusFiero's statement: "WOW they are slow arent they. I heard about it on the news hear pretty much straight after he died." - General Interpretation: Our news media is much slower than Australia's, and they were already broadcasting the fact that Mr. Reeve had passed away.
"A real shame as he was pushing for stem cell research to continue too. He may have walked again some day." - General Interpretation: Australia apparently "has" no restrictions on Stem Cell research. Therefore, Aus was supporting the fact that with less and/or limited restrictions in Austrialia (and/or possibly abound), there could have been the possibility or discovery through research of a cure that may have been able to help CR walk again.
Break down of I'm Back's statement: "Remember, my Bible-thumping friend, it is your Nazi party that he fought for the right to get stem cell research." - General Interpretation: You can not comprehend statements within a simple sentence, using simple vocabulary...because it is apparent again, Aus sounds as if he supports stem cell research, and you attacked.
"Who has Reeve more against, me for posting that silly animation, or you for blocking his right ot walk/live?" - General Interpretation: Apparently, you are just trying to start arguments with someone within a thread. -- Here is the fact, AusFiero did not even make any reference to the picture you posted, which BTW, I also saw as being in bad taste...and yet you selected him to attack. Then you wonder why everyone is getting upset, because you are unable to admit to a mistake, even later on in this thread when AusFiero addresses it as well as others pointing it out.
"Get your priorities in order and read my reply to LZeitgeist." - Ed, you really need to, not only get "your" priorities straight, but in addition get your facts straight as well as to who you are responding to.
Perhaps you forgot to take your meds...hence your mind is unclear...
Or perhaps, as others have mentioned and have noticed, you are in fact just trolling around here again in order to "bait" people into your miserable world of hatred and despair.

That is total BS. Your post began with quote box where AusFiero said:
quote

then you said:

If you were not referring to AusFiero in any way, why the hell did you begin your post with a quote from him?
Remember, Ed is entitled to say and or remember Mr Reeves in any way he sees fit and should not be restricted in his persuit of that or rated negativly.

Steve, do you really think Ed will take responsibility, let alone apologize publically for his ill posted response to Aus or just attempt to justify his actions?
Ed, please leave the politics and insults behind and join us as we celebrate the life of a fine actor and great humanitarian and mourn the loss of what could have been. That is not too much to ask, so please don't quote me again and try to upset me with your endless insults. I really don't want to play smart mouth games with you right now, there will be time for that later.
Rest in peace Superman.

This forum is not a democracy like the United States. If someone makes enough inflammatory remarks, they get booted. Learn to temper what you say or you're gone, that's the way it is. That goes for any of us.

That's the biggest load of I've read in a long time.
And again, it's not Ed's opinions that get him into trouble, so quit trying to paint him as a martyr. It's the way he expresses his opinions that rubs people the wrong way. Like fierobear said, that's true for any of us.

Then why quote and respond to something he said directly, which is exactly what you did. This is no witch hunt, Ed, there are just a bunch of people here that have had it with your foul mouth, bad manners, and ill temper. This time, you've crossed a line which reasonable and responsible people can see clearly. You have the right to say what you want and post what you want, just be prepared to pick up the check for the consequences of what you say and do.
