I dont drink your average redbulls. Anyone ever heard of Kratendaeng? Its the real redbull from thailand. It comes in brown glass bottles, 150 ML. So anyway I had one i was going to drink before leaving the house at 6 am to go to work. I left it on the counter in the kitchen, and my mom put it in the fridge. When i got home at about 1pm I put it in the freezer to get it real cold, and I was gonna grab it before I left to go to a friends house then to a scrap metal yard to get some aluminum. I forgot it again and left it in the freezer. I got home an hour and a half later to find that it was still liquid. I looked through the glass and turned the bottle on the side. The bubble went down the side of the bottle, then to the bottom as I turned the bottle upside down. I thought that was kinda weird, because the bottle was freaking cold. (I turned the freezer to full blast, because it was taking awhile to freeze ice cubes). So i shook the bottle (kratendaeng isnt carbonated) to get it ready for drinking. Next thing I know, the appearance of the bottle turns to a lighter shade of brown, as all of the contents instantly freeze, turning it into a nice redbull chunk of ice. It took another hour for it to thaw. Weird huh? What would cause something like this to happen?

Methinks it was frozen, and it looked liquid. Did the bubble go through the center, or did it actually creep along the side? I like the smaller bottles myself...Baccus-F is my favorite. A few times, I polished off a ten-pack when I was working on a app or a game or somethin'...
I used to do that all the time with my water bottle at school. It would sit in the freezer all night but stay liquid. I would let one of the kids decide how to make it freeze each day- the neatest one was to thump the bottle on the side and watch the ice crystals grow from the point of impact to fill the bottle.

whats great about non puss redbull, is that #1 its cheap and #2 it tastes better in my opinion. regular red bull tastes watered down compared to kratingdaeng. What ive found out from a bulletin board that was talking about it one day, is that all the american version is, is about 50% krat, and 50% seltzer water. The krat has three ingredients that arent in regular red bull. I dont know if they are legal or not. You can find krat on ebay, but its expensive. Try your local asian foods market. Dont settle for immitations. There are about 15 different "energy drinks" made in thailand. Ive tried most of them. Red bull kills them all.

I've had that happen with gatorade, but it never complete froze once I shook it. Just turned to slush. My friend let me try the real thailand red bull the other day. It tastes thick and syruppy, sort of like cherry flavoured cough syrup. It was pretty strong too, but tastes good. They sell it at 7/11 here. Nothing on the bottle was in english, I didn't even what I was drinking haha.

Then, when you shook it, the air bubble was broken into smaller bubbles, and perhaps that triggered a sudden freezing.
You hit the nail on the head. The bottle was so smooth that crystallization couldn't take place. That's quite rare with water, but easy to do with supersaturated solutions of sodium acetate... but I can't seem to find a movie of it on google... Basically dropping a dry crystal into the solution would cause the whole thing to turn into a solid crystal instantly.

I have a mini-fridge in my garage that generally is stocked with Rolling Rock, but this past winter I had about a dozen 1 liter bottles of water in there. The outside temp dropped below zero, and I happend to grab a bottle... same thing - still liquid. But as soon as I moved it It froze from the top down. Coolest thing I've seen in quite awhile!
Its called flash freezing and whoever said that it was like microwaving water is right, thats called super heating if I recall correctly. You can bring a liquid past the freezing point if you do it fast enough and then when it touches something it instantly freezes.
