Talking about a typical 55-gallon steel barrel. I need to know how tall they are (not counting the rim at each end) and the circumference. How wide and how long would a piece of paper need to be to wrap around it and cover it exactly?

TIA

I measured one of our steel oil drums to be 33-3/4" tall between the rims and 71-1/2" on the second largest diameter(below body rim), and 72-1/8" on the largest outside diameter (body rim). I hope this helps.

Yes, that's great! Thanks a bunch!
Now I know how big the gift-wrap paper needs to be. j/k

Awww man, why didn't you ask what is the VOLUME of a 55-gal. drum? Because I know the answer; believe it or not we use this number at work quite a bit.

Off Topic.
A 55 gal drum holds more than a barrel of oil.
A US standard barrel is around 35 gals.
A standard barrel of oil is 42 gal.
