You could just pay the ticket and use it as a lesson learned, ya know? Wear the seatbelt and you won't have to deal with this issue again.
Personally, I feel naked in a car without my seatbelt. Its kinda one of those habits that I have when I get in the car.....put the seatbelt on! 
If you do get in an accident (God forbid) not having the seatbelt on could mean life or death.
On the way to Michigan, Nick and I stopped at a rest stop and had gotten back in the car, well I was all about passing out and going to sleep. Without even thinking about it, I got in, pushed the seat back, and layed down. Next thing I know he goes "hey, seatbelt!".....ooops....I done forgot! See, he likes me! He really likes me!! lol 
People do care enough to get on your case about the seatbelt thing...or else we all wouldn't be replying about how silly you are for not wearing it!
