bondo will not stick to oily or pressure treated wood, but may stick to dry clean wood
you can mix in a little fiberglass resen [polyester] to make bondo stick better or coat the wood with resen first
or ruff sand the wood to give it some teeth for the bondo to lockin to
for a better bond mix micro ballons [small glass beads] in to epoxy glue, you can get them at a marine supply store.

Question wonder and be wierd
are you kind?

Berlin, I'm a carpenter and we use Bondo to patch knotholes in wood regularly. If you go into a lumberyard or hardware store and check the shelves in the paint/sandpaper area you will probably find a Minwax product in a can that is for wood repairs. Know what is?...Expensive bondo. Like Ray says, rough the wood up, do not use on treated/painted or rotten wood. If you are going to use it on something that will be subject to vibration, temperature extremes, and or it is connecting two dissimilar products together as in wood to metal it will probably show cracks unless reinforced with screen or something, As a filler only, it works fine.

Yes. I am restoring/remodeling a 100+ year old farmhouse and use lots of it. It's great for rebuilding the worn down corners on doors or filling in where the locksets used to be. Awesome stuff- just don't get it wet. Use it for indoor projects only.
