A few months ago, I asked to have a few moles on my head removed by my doctor. He took out his cryogenic freezing stuff and sprayed it on them. He said it would be a few days/weeks and then nothing would be there. I waited for a month or two, and they had not even faded. Any ideas why this procdure did not work?
Reason being is I want to go back and get a few more moles done, but only if there is hope that it will be effective.

Don, I would definitly call your doctor & ask him. There are only a couple of medical people here & I would tthink that anything they might say would be general at best with out seeing the moles. Maybe I'm wrong & frontalobe will see your post & answer, but moles aren't anything to be taken lightly from what I hear, & I imagine he would tell you to call your Dr.

Did any of it come off - is it not as thick as it used to be? they may need to freeze 'em again, for a longer period of time. they should fall off within a month or so.

I had some "suspicious" moles removed surgically. You know, the ones that are too big, oddly shaped or colored. None have returned, but I do have some scars where they where. None of them were cancerous luckily. The dermatologist did remove quite a few layers of skin to get them out.

Sorry, just got back from out of town.

Freezing with liquid nitrogen is an "art", just like automotive body work!

If you don't freeze long enough, you don't kill the tissue and it survives and nothing (or not enough) comes off.

If you freeze too long, then you can make too deep a "gouge", and then that leaves an obvious "divot" and doesn't look good and people aren't happy.

So your guy just erred on the short side and didn't freeze long enough to get it.

You should call and let him know that it didn't "take" and what does he want to do. The answer should be, "Come on in again and we'll do it again, and there will be no charge."

Thanx guys for the answers. I didn't want to go in there and complain initially because he didn't charge me at all.
I am willing to be that they are a wee bit lee prevalent then they used to be. But still very noticable. I'll make an appointment.
