Finally, the vending machine at work had both available at the same time! I couldn't resist (not that I ever could). For my 50 cents, the Reese's Pieces were a net weight of 1.53 oz, the M&M's weighed in at 1.63 oz, a better value. I opened both bags almost at the same time, and then I realized that I should have considered which one smells better... oh well, too late now. The first thing you notice is the M&M's are bigger. Then you notice the Reese's only come in 3 colors, whereas my pack of M&M's had 5 colors.
Okay, here comes the tasting... Reese's first. Oh yeah, very nice indeed. Now, the peanut butter M&M's. Much milder, smoother... almost bland compared to the Reese's. I didn't expect this much difference, but it's almost like the difference between milk chocolote and dark chocolate. The Reese's taste made me want to keep eating them. Each taste of M&M's made me want to get back to the pile of Reese's. There's not much chocolate here, folks, so if that's what you're after, buy the peanut butter cups or the plain or peanut M&M's. This is just a smooth peanut butter taste.
So there you have it. Eating them at different times, I always thought they were identical. But in a side-by-side comparison, this Fiero enthusiast prefers Reese's Pieces unanimously!
