You want to forget that one, and go find a Stealth or Mitsu 3000GT VR-4 with the twin turbo V6 and AWD! (They are the same car) They will have power more to your liking!

Stealths and 3000 GTs are *heavy* cars. They weigh as much as a 3rd gen F-body. Around 3400 lbs.
The twin turbo, AWD versions are pretty quick, but just because of the "brute force" factor.
Not sure about reliability, though.

Didn't you just grab another Fiero? What about the Eclipse with the fubar'd tranny?

I was able to dig up a few figures for you.

Apparently between 1991 and 1993, there were three engine options. I do not know if all three were available each year.

There was:
3.0L V6 good for 164 HP
3.0L DOHC V6 Good for 222 HP
3.0L DOHC TT V6 Good for 300 HP (and with AWD)

My guess is you found the 164 HP version if it felt like a dog. As Raydar said, it is a big car. I have heard some good things about the 3000GT's reliability, but have never really looked into it too closely.

if its an ES it is prolly the 222hp version. the 164hp version to my memory is a SOHC version, the 222hp & 300hp are both DOHC.

Dont forget insurance.

My bro's friend has a 3000GT VR-4. He was 21 and was paying in at just over 250$ a month. He was under his parents name, and their record was clean. Damn!

The 3.0L SOHC was available from the get-go in '91.

All the ES models we sold from the Chrysler dealer I worked for untill '94 did have the 3.0L DOHC motor, but who knows, apparently you could get a GT Fiero with the 2.5.

Have any pictures?, the ES models visually looked the same as the TT models other than the wheels.

You should be able to confirm which engine it has with the VIN number. There must be a Stealth website online that has the VIN code for each engine.
