How about a kit to remove that railroad tie between the rear tires?

Sunfire/Cavaliers suck donkey balls.

I am planning on building a sleeper out of one. It involves a whole lot of cutting and welding. I do not think it will handle real well but it does not have to in a straight line.

hey don't listen to him tell you that sunfires cavaliers suck i have seen both with some pretty impressive stuff done to them.
and the last LA auto show had some sort of supercharged sunfire with a factory bodykit that looked extreamly nice.
u can check out gmpartsdirect.com i think it is if it isnt try searching under yahoo.
or ebay has some stuff to just make sure u get brand name like aem or iceman if they make it for the sunfire not those 29.99 fake intakes.
they make it worse.
my g/f's friend laruen has a cavalier that is pretty damn fast for a automatic its a 2 door and it feels like its a v6 im not sure tho as i only rode in it once. its a 02
aol messege me if u got aim.
my screen name is streetlethel187
and all help u find some parts for it.

I believe Mach10 was refering to the twist-beam rear suspension. The twist-beam is not as performance oriented as a fully independent rear suspension but it is not a horrible design either. There are a huge number of FWD vehicles that use that type of rear suspension.

There is a supercharger available for the non-ecotec Sunfire/Cavalier, I don't know about the Ecotec. Check out Race-Tech, located in Toronto, but they have little pictures of catalogs they had with modifications on them. Probably can find them at other places. Also try DriverFX.

As for that "factory" body kit. It looks like hell from the front, if you're referring to the orange one they had as a concept. And the other "rice" body kit that comes from the factory is just sad, dual fart cans and a huge wing.

I find them very small inside and uncomfortable to ride in for long periods of time, and I'm a small guy.

Solid-beam rear suspensions is what auto-makers do when they can't figure out how to stop a light-weight and under-enforced frame from twisting like a wet rag in corners.

As for the 2.x motor that has been stuck in these cars, they are terribly under-built, they have feeble heads, terrible sealing problems, and very low output.

(The new ecotecs are a bit of an exception)

Basically, they are, have always been Chevvy's version of the K-Car. Cheap parts, Cheap assembly, Half-decent fuel mileage...

Besides the fact that I think they are fugly (but I own a saturn, so who am I to talk! ), consumer-ratings for these cars are unanimously "TERRIBLE."

Craptastic reliability, lackluster performance... Honestly, if you think a Z24 is fast...

I'll go along and say, yes, with a lot of work, you can make a fast z24/sunfire. But after $3500+ in mods, and you are running high-mid 14s .... Plus having to freak about blowing the cheap head clean off the motor...

I mean, at least with a Honda/Yota/Hyundai, you can claim that your car is decent handling in a road-course/autocross... Ever seen a J-body wallow through corners, tail-end wagging like a puppy on amphetamines? *shudder*

Dunno why anyone would want to do ANYTHING to a cavalier/sunfire... Except perhaps trade it in

In case you haven't noticed, I hate these cars with an unholy passion. Feel free to ignore me!

The 2.4 in the Z24/GT is basically a .1 litre bigger Quad 4. Don't know anything about the parts used in them, but I want to know how they increase the displacement and lose the power of the Quad 4 HO(180hp and Achieva SCX/Calais W-41 with the 190hp engine)? So I would guess they must be cheap ass parts or severely restricted.

No replacement for displacement indeed.

Make the damn thing 0.1L bigger, and you *lose* 40-60hp (depending on what you look at)

Oh, and they STILL have a problem eating head gaskets
