I got the 30gallon 5.5hp sears compressor.

And i cant get it to stay at 90psi while the compressor is running. This is using my new sandblasting cabinet.

1. My parents didn't want to spend all this money for me to have 220v in the garage, which required a hole dug up and run a new line. I already have a 20amp line for outlest; and a 15 amp for lights and a ceiling outlet.

2. I prob gonna get a smaller gun for my sandblasting cabinet.

But i was wondering if anyone owned that new craftsman 25gallon compressor. The one with a 2 stage compression which boosts the pressure up to 175 psi.

i know its suppose to be quieter. If anyone owns this, can the compressor keep up while ur blowing air at 90psi? And did u notice it any better then the old fashion type compressors.

Also, does anyone know if theres a manuf that sells 120volt compressor, but with a 60 gallon tank? i only seen 220v with that large of a tank.

thanks

Another question.

I can buy sears 2stage system but just the tank from the 60 gallon model. And purchase the complete compressor motor/regulator from the 25 gallon model.

i was wondering if anyone has thoughts on that? Sears sells all the parts to these things.

I have a Devibiss one at work. 220 volt model with a 60 gallon tank (I think that's the right size, it's an upright). It has the same oil-less two stage compressor that the Sears one uses. When you use a sandblaster, the compressor will start to run pretty soon (at least a couple of minutes) if you are using a lot of pressure. We use the sandblaster to clean our mold cavities and use a fine garnet with the pressure set to about 45 psi. Any higher will take the EDM finish off the cavities. The tank capacity is what will help you. The compressors are rated for a continuous use CFM but I can't remember what it is.

I just recently got the 2 stage 110V 25 gal. craftsman compressor. I need one to shoot gel coat which requires a constant 90LB. It WON"T give it to you! I just got an additional 60 gal. tank to add to the system, but haven't hooked it up yet. Will let you know if it helps. Trying to avoid taking my big upright 220V belt driven compressor to the new building, but if the additional tank doesn't help, that's what I'll end up doing. The Sears unit seems to run air tools ok,(sander, grinder etc.), but it does lag down to about 45LBS and hover between that and 75LBS with constant use. Definatly ok for paint gun. Got a good deal on the 175LB 2 stage, so thought I would try it but you can't beat a belt driven "beast" for output, IMO.

my shop compressor is 80 gal. The air pressure is not the important part. 2 things to look for is the hp rating, 5.5 is good, mines 7.5. The most important thing to look for is its continuous CFM delivery rate. Grinders and sanders use the most air- really good is at least 17CFM @ 90#. A DA sander wont be much good below 11-12 CFM. Youll always be stopping to let compressor catch up. Most air tools shouldnt use more than 120# pressure, 175# would be hard on anything except heavy duty impact gun.

110v air compressors are barely usuable except for small stuff, dont even waste your money. Beside the elec to run the 110 will cost 10 times what the 220 uses.
