On a set of 17"x7", what is the norm and what is the widest tire?

235 45 ZR does the trick and looks good. You will have to lower the car w/ drop springs and or spindles as well.

On my Z-24 I had 215 45 17. They were 8 inches wide. Though I had to cut a bit out of the front wheel well to get a decent turning radious.
