Ask and you shall receive. If you can't handle the truth, don't ask for it. The truth in this case is why SOME people don't like neons. Maybe there reasons are not true, but they give them nonetheless. You didn't ask "What are the legitimate reasons people have for not liking neons?" You asked "Why don't people like neons?" You have your answer. If you want to debate those answers, that is a different subject. Also, did you see the first letter in this sentence? That is called capitalization. Please use it if you wish to respond. Otherwise I will not finish your first sentence.

I read the forum practically every day since I became a member and everytime I've seen a neon mentioned theres always been a few who comment on how crappy it is. I own a 01 neon, I've put 30,000 miles on it since June and its been great. Some of you need to sit in a new neon, the interior is far from sh#$y. My Fiance has a 95 neon, its been nothing but great for her. When I was shopping for cars to commute with I went to every dealership I could to pick the best car for the money. The civic has a very cheap looking interior and a crappy stereo. It gets good gas mileage and has a good resale value. Thats it. The sunfires are just plain ugly, Pontiac or not, there the only car I can truly lable a "chick" car. To make a long story short, the neon for what its worth is an excellent car, and I personally like the looks. It has a peppy engine, good stereo and great looking factory mags, great gas mileage, what else could you ask for.

I think some people feel the need to compare their fieros to neons. To put some of your minds at ease, my stock 2.8 is still faster than my neon, but not faster than a neon R/T, they haul. I think its only fair to comment on specific cars if you've owned one or atleast know someone that has.

In the deeply intelectual words of Forrest Gump, "Thats all I have to say about that"

My mom has a 95 Neon.. as soon as it hit 100,000 miles, the headgasket went. That thing is gutless, too. My old '84 had more balls. IMHO

Well...actually......I like'em

Have always been a mitsubish fan...and see the Neon as a cute good bang for your buck econo car that is not TOO uncomfortable or TOO ugly.

Keep in mind....I like things stock...no extra rice please.

well i guess im a ricer because the only car i like the looks of stock that isn't a ferrari or porshe or such but just a standerd car, Is the new celica. those things are buitiful.
however the neon with razzi body kit is the second best car i have ever seen i liked the looks of which is why i purchesd it. i asked alota people that had neons like my naighbor how they liked theres and they said it had good gas milige was pretty fast for a econo car. another guy i was taling to used to have one and he owns a eclipse gsx now and he said he loved his neon. finialy i went into the import shop. and asked what they ahd for the 2000 and up neons he rambled off tons of stuff i was like awsome. so i test drove the eclipse at the same dealership but decided to go with the neon since it was more comfy and i liked how it looked better with the body kit.
bye the way my friend taht owns the 1995 mitshubishi eclipse gsx said he would trade me straight accross for my 2000 neon ES he has 98 thousand miles on his. i have 5100 there both standerds but when i race him for fun i always win by about a bumper or two unless we go over 65 then he passes me.
im not gonna trade but who would be getting the better deal?

I like neon's fine. They are what they are, unless you modify them like you are.

Like Cooter, my only reservation would be the reliability. Check out consumer reports repair records on the older models.

But that doesn't mean EVERYONE has bad luck with their individual car. Some get lucky, and that is great.

Conclusion, I don't hate the neon. I wouldn't be embarrassed to drive one.

neons are one of the safist cars made notice how in this picture you can see how the driver was lucky to have the neons patend P.P.D. Personel Projectile Device, where u can clearly see he was thrown from the dangerus crash threw the windshiled safly into the telephone lines.

Well if the idiot wasn't wearing his seatbelt, maybe he wouldn't have been tossed out!

But that aside, the Neon is actually a really good car, from my experiences anyway. We've had one for the past 4 years. Sure it's not speed demon, but what 4-cylinder economy car is? What the difference is with the Neon is the potential that block has for power handling. People have easily turboed 400-600HP out of that thing.

Personally, a Neon or a Solstice (if they ever put it into production) is the only 2 4-cylinder cars I'd ever even THINK about buying.

I laugh at most theories on neons here. Most of the people that respond to threads about neons have never driven them. Standard I dont know what car you drove that was gutless but it damn sure was not a neon. Even the 132hp base has balls. As far as it being a chick car the Fiero was said to be for gays and gals also. Check out auto X sometime. Neons are all over the leader board. This car can do a whole lot for a little cash. I have a black 96 with white wheel covers that still is as shiny as new with 100k on it. When I first got it people would come up to me to talk about it all the time. It was nice looking then and its nice looking now. The newer neons have the less torquey mini van engine in them and are heavier so they are a little slower. But the quality of the interior is much better. I have not had one problem with this car. Its great. I dont drive it becasue I have to. i have 4 cars and a SUV. I plan to be one of the first in line to buy the Dodge neon SRT4 in 2003. That is unless they do buld the Dodge razor. That neon comes stock at 13.4 aec 1/4 mile and 5.9 0 to 60. Mopar will be putting out parts to make it even faster. It has a great interior and the same seats as the viper. Dodge is a great company and is working hard to come up with new ideas. I have no bias towards and US company and own cars from all big 3 MFG. Damn this turned into a rant and I lost my point.

I never did like the Neon style because it reminded me of a front end off of a Ford Pinto circa 1973-78? edition...yuck!!!

Sorry...this came up under Google Pinto search as well...

You say why does everyone hate neons.. ask yourself this why does everyone hate the fiero?

people are people, me I don't like any early 90's quad motor every since my moms 94 grand-am head gasket went out those things are evil and hella expensive to fix, but as mentioned before you think of neons, vw bugs, caveliers and all to be chick cars.. can't forget sunfires

just say screw it, who cares what people think what are they driving ford escorts? I've gotten a lot of hate for driving the fiero I know how it goes.. just say screw'em
