anyone know what kinds of mods could be done to a 1.6L Geo Storm engine, and what kind of aftermarket there is for this engine?
base model (1.6L) is 95hp
GSi model (1.8L) is 140hp... sounds kinda like our cars.

I'm asking for someone else btw, my car's still a Fiero.

Well any car can be good after mods. A turbo sounds interesting.

Fieros, don't those things all catch on fire?

Anyhow, the other car that shared the design and used the turbo (and AWD) was the Isuzu Impulse. I think it is something else in Canada, Asuna Starfire, I think? Anyhow, I think you'd have better luck getting performance parts from Isuzu then GM. The general seems to have a short memory when it comes to discontinued platforms...

the turbo from the isuzu impulse/asuna sunfire will fit the storm btw.

The Impulse was AWD?! How'd I miss that one?!
Any links?

The 140HP Storms were a decent car, BTW, almost bought one instead of my Civic Si years ago.

Had a geo storm gsi. Number their are many recalls Everyone I know that had one spent alot of time at the chevy dealer having it fixed. Number 2 they are very slow. Their way to heavy. My fiero would have lit it up all day. Over all a good looking car and damn cheap. Theirs one near my restraunt for about 1800 bucks. But damn slow and unreliable.

I use to own a 1990 yellow GSI. Dual cam/5-spd. Not a bad car but the handling is the weak point. The body was too top heavy for the weak suspension. The car is basically a re-bodied Isuzu Impulse. There are lots of aftermarket Hi-perf parts. The other thing I did not like was it was prone to body rust. After 3 years the wheel wells in the rear started to rust. I've seen many that had the same problem.

quote from the geo forum:

TYPE R CONVERSION KIT!!!!
by Brandon

i already got the Type R stickers on the side and the Red Honda emblums but i wanna go all out with this thing and go Type R on everything! Whatever you come up with has to go with my mono windshield wiper(which BTW added like 5HP). i also want to keep my homemade dryer hose cold air intake, so make a front bumper that adapts to dryer hose! i also wanna order some cut Type R springs that it bounces up and down as i go down the street, but i still get the performance of Honda!
oh yea and the kit has to be fast!
i don't want to spend more then about $200 so lemme know!

thanx in advance

Brandon

Check Suzuki Cars for parts and ideas.

I sold cars in 93' 94 and sold Suzuki's, they also made the GEO's at that time.
The suzuki selling point was that it had a 4cyl motor and the Geo's had 3cyl.
Suzuki also made a Turbo model around those years, very small, very light, ran like a scalded dog...just don't hit a DOG you will die
