Does anyone else out there not understand how you can "hate on" something? For example, from another post, "why does everyone hate on rice?" - how does this make any sense at all?

Florida's state song is written in Ebonic in 1850's look at the words. Do you speak old english or even middle english? a language evolves over time, all the time.

Ebonics is the "title" for the slang that "african americans" use. I guess a while ago someone wanted that taught in school. It's the new "black languge." Where I grew up, I heard it all the time. Don't get me wrong, every now and then I jok around with my friends and use the slang, but to actually HEAR people use it from day to day as an actual "language" just makes people sound un-educated. And in my school, most of the people who talked like that WERE.

This is all I hear on a day to day basis at work... it makes me cringe. Speaking of work, I just had a customer hang up on me cause I told her that I couldn't help her until she quit yelling at me.

Hey Rayb, you would be the only one to defend ebonics huh? I could make a joke about how you type in it most of the time. That would be mean. But damn its funny. lol!
Ebonics is a recent term for an American variety of English otherwise called Black Vernacular English, African American English, American Black English, African American Vernacular English, and other similar names. Implicit in all these names is the recognition of the English spoken by American blacks as a distinct variety, and the term Ebonics came into use about the time of a controversial decision by the school board of Oakland in California to declare the black vernacular a second language.

I see 84Bill, you're putting that dictionary to very good use, despite that it is no longer required here to interpret posts. BTW, what did you do with your legal books?
Nows I's gots to go gets me s'more sugar. B's backs later.
yo's be shi**in me.. teachin da stuff in california? dat's whacked.
search on any of the mp3 sites for "ebonics language lesson".. it's funny.. I downloaded it when I got the "alzheimer research center answering machine" one.
In communication, the burden of making sure the message is received accurately and precisely should fall on the person doing the talking, not the listener.
I don't mind if people want to make up their own language, but then when the general populace has no idea what they are taking about, who's responsibility is it? And to make fun of someone because they don't get it--reverse snobbery.

Part of the reason it was done is so certain people wouldn't have any idea what was being discussed in front of them. Just like some inner cities I've been to have all the street signs removed to slow down police response. Use to have to find a main street and then use a map and count in the blocks to find the street you wanted to be on.

Jeff Socha's Newbonics Dictionary Yah*rah*sah*gobbler: A newbonic term relating to the act of "surprise" as in: Yahrasawgobbler everyone! ; or a feeling of "puzzlement" or "confusion": Yahrahsahgobbler!?

Hey stupid, "ebonics" ( ) is not evolving, as a matter of fact, its quite the opposite, dumbass.
