Well, insurance was killing me and I finally gave in. I wanted to get something nice and reliable, but low insurance. I've found that one of the lowest rates you get is on trucks, but I've never owned a truck before. Browsing the dealers lot, I came across the '00 model S10's. I like the S10's, but I didn't really need the capacity to haul or tow stuff. That's when I came across the Xtreme S10's.... It was a 2.2 4-Banger with and auto and snazzy ground effects. Best of all, the Xtremes come with ZQ8 suspension which totally put my 'ol '94 Z28 to shame. The sucker handles like it's on rails.... Anyhow, my insurance is much lower, and I love the truck. Sure it costs more, but at least the money is going towards the purchase of something material rather than throwing it away for insurance. check out: http://www.s10xtreme.com/
I'm still gonna autocross my GT though!!!

later all,
Geoff

Chevy has the best small trucks I think. They do the cool stuff the public wants. Take my 94 S-10 ZR2. The ZR2 package includes: hardened gears and bearings, stiffer frame, 3 skid plates (front, transfer case, tranny) Bilstein shocks and mine has the locking rear differential. The rear axle is a narrowed 10 bolt full-size unit... needless to say this thing will go ANYWHERE! I took it further than my cousin could take his 94 full-size Chevy. I have seen those Xtremes before... sharp truck!

Yes, mine is red!
SCCA.... mine has the posi-rear, but it doesn't really need it. At first I didn't want a 4 banger auto but with 4.10's in the rear, it can still do a burn-out. Of course, I've only tried that ONCE since I broke in the engine. I'm thinking of just adding a shift kit and a cold-air kit. how's that sound?

Bastard: Sorry to hear you had to sell the Camaro. The guys over on camaroz28.com giving you a hard time?

I like the looks of the Xtreme. Did all of the Xtremes come with 4 cylinders? What are the 4 cyl rated at? i always thought the Xtremes came standard with the 4.3 Vortech.

The std engine is the 2.2 4-banger. The optional is the 4.3 vortec. I seriously considered the 4.3, but it wouldn't really make sense because the primary reason that I was getting the S10 is for insurance reasons. I'm really happy with my 2.2 though. It has a posi-rear(no kiddin') and 4.10 gears.
