We have a big car show here in june. It is called "Scrapin the Coast". Adam took his fiero this year, my car bent a rod do to hydro lock the week before. We busted aur buts to get his car to run and drive good enough to get to the show and go to the track that afternoon. If you enter the show, you get in to the drag strip free. Adam's car is a 85 GT/auto that I got him when he was in HS. It cost me $250. I told him if he wants to drive it, he had to fix it. Good education. This is his 3rd engine. he did a 3.8/4T40, a 3800SC ser1/ 4T60-3.33 rear with a small pully. And than this 3800SC ser 2 / 4T65-3.29 gears. ZZP ported lim, ZZP ecm tune up, SS headers ( in to the stock fiero GT exhaust) and I think a 3.4 pully, and the small ZZP cam. He did the black/yellow paint job with spray cans. This is @ "gulfport dragway" in miss. It was a long day, very HOT, muggy. He was on my street tires, 225/55/17 in the rear. No TQ strut yet so he did a soft launch each time. On the 1st run he found out the trans would not up shift to 3rd before the engine hit the limeter. But he did learn that the car would go 98 mph in 2nd. He has been running this car for years at this track. low 14's to 15's. He wanted to get in to the 13's, in street trim. On the 2nd run he backed off just enough to call for the shift to 3rd. I saw some smoke so we called it a night. The trans was down a Qt, and I think his dummy PS pump was letting a little oil out to make the smoke.
