I drive a Fiero with a sunroof, and as much as I love the little car, the lack of cargo space can be inconvenient at times. I'd rather not drill mounting holes into my decklid for a luggage rack, so has anyone managed to mount a rooftop cargo box on their Fiero? I'd prefer one that can be taken off when not needed, but I can't imagine a way to mount one without drilling holes in the roof panel.

This first photo shows the Fiero with the roof rack, about to have a cart-load of lumber thrown on top. You can see the cart full of lumber in the background.
Next is the Fiero, with lumber loaded on the roof. There's a couple sheets of plywood, plus about a dozen or so assorted pieces of lumber.
And last but not least, the Fiero carrying a telescoping ladder. There was some other stuff on the rack, as well. But I can't rmember what it was.
You've posted an exact picture of what I'm imagining in my mind. Trying to find a small black box right now, but the harder part is racks that look like they can be mountable. I'm a little bit worried about the drip rails.

Another option would be put a trailer hitch on the Fiero. One member had his hidden behind the rear plate, it slides down when needed. You could then get a cargo carrier rack for it
Honestly, If it were me I would rather get a mini trailer to pull behind my priceless antique car, than to haul stuff on my priceless antique car... But then again I admit to driving on the expressway with an upside down picnic bench strapped to the roof of an old Lincoln town car. (blush)
Ouch... but then thats me. To each his own.

I am currently talking to another member who is making the trailer hitches that can be hidden behind the rear license plate, but that hitch will probably be for holding my bikes on long journeys & around campus. I have thrown the idea around though, but I think it'll be easier to just haul my bikes on a rack behind me than figuring out a way to harness them to the roof of the fiero.

I'm a college undergraduate whose only method of transportation is my Fiero. I just have to work with what I've got!

got it at Sears. I was worried about how it was just secured by the drip rails - but - they did fine. Made the trip from Detroit to Shenandoah Nat'l park for a most excellent camping trip for me & the wifey.
it is a bit weird seeing the thing thru the widnshield - but - was nice to be able to see it stay solid & secure.
