Tried using this product to fix my undercar AC line that somehow developed a crack at the mounting bracket below the front compartment. Tried testing it out on some ruined lines I pulled off the car. It can build up new material on top of aluminum, but it CANNOT fix a hole, the melting point of the material must be just a few degrees higher than aluminum itself, because when you try to fix a gap with it, it just makes the gap bigger, and falls into the hole. Complete crap. It was the only stuff I could get locally without waiting a week.

You can see a similar product here:

The stuff I use came from Harbor Freight, and it melts below the temp for aluminum, but you have to use a stainless brush to clean up everything.

Aluminum welding is an art form, not easy to do. Aluminum softens, and softens.

Nice product, even I could use. My friend in n.j. could weld anything. We build microstock/cart frames.

This is actually brazing, not welding. I'd like to try the Durafix, but I'm not going to spend another $50 for it.

I tried the dura fix rods and ended up giving them to a guy at work, I tried them on a 4.8 oil pan on a bravada rock put hole in it and well the rods just were not up to the job so I ended up taking it to work and doing it with the tig.
