Got one in my '88 along with matching boot, short shift kit, Hurst 5 spd ball:
I like it quite a bit, would warn those under 5' 10" with shorter arms, that 5th gear will be a reach for them. Very manageable for me (shirt sleeve size 34), but I'm sure others would have preferred the shifter bent to the left a little. Since it's chromed, you take the risk of cracking the chrome if you bend or heat it to re-position the arm.
Are you looking for manual or auto? I would think Rodneys is better for a manual all depends if you want a gate shifter plate as well or just the best shifter?

Thanks for the info and the pic! My fiero is a 1986 2m6 model. Parts can be hard to come by in the uk. I have placed an order for hurst shifter. I ordered it from the rodney dickmans site as i could not find anywhere else selling it. Maybe its no longer made?

I have one on my 87 GT and it is one of my favorite RD upgrades. I have to agree with California kid on the long reach. Fifth gear can be a stretch. I plan to add a short shift kit.

Rodney was/is the only source for a (new) Hurst Shifter (arm). He had a deal with Hurst to produce them. I thought that these were not available from him anymore ? You may want to fire him an email to confirm.

Thanks for the info. It said "in stock" and he confirmed the shifter has been posted. Maybe i was lucky and he had a few left. Probably a good idea for anyone else interested to place an order soon though!

Be aware, there's no such thing as a Hurst "shifter" for a Fiero. All you can get is a Hurst handle for the factory shifter. They look great, but other than changing the look and possibly length of the shifter arm, it has no effect on how the transmission shifts.
Rodney Dickman makes a shifter rebuild kit. I highly recommend it. New shift cables, rebuilt shifter, and throw on the Hurst handle for the cherry on top and you'll think you've got a brand new transmission.

Thanks for the pic and the info! I have just placed a follow up order for these items for the muncie 4-speed. Car has been off road for several months for an engine rebuild, should have it back very soon though. Spent a small fortune on the car since i got it in april last year.

How long a job is it to install the muncie 4-speed shifter rebuild kit sold by rodney dickman? Got the shifter rebuild kit today but the hurst shift lever (posted 2 days earlier than the shifter rebuild kit!) has not arrived yet.
