Ive always been a huge Pontiac fan. I currently own a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GT coupe that runs mid high 12s, a 1996 Pontiac Grand Prix SE coupe that Ive been building a turbo 3400 for over the winter, and 1990 Mclaren Turbo Grand Prix coupe.

I drive a 80 mile round trip to school so I wanted to get something unique but got good gas mileage. I was driving my 96 SE which got the best MPG (23.3 avg) till the intake gasket went last fall. I bought a 96 Grand Prix GTP (20.5 avg) and drove it for the rest of the winter and sold it. In the spring I got my 2001 GT (19.5 avg) out and drove that.

A 1985 Fiero 2m4 came up for sale locally so I had to take a look at it. After Looking at it and driving it I had to get it. Its an 85 2m4 with 116,000 miles. The trans was replaced with a Getrag 282. Over all the cars in decent condition. Only real issue I have with it right now is the trans is hard to shift and won't go in reverse with the car running. I don't think the clutch is fully disengaging. I ordered a new pedal so hopefully that takes care of that issue. Also the speedo reads fast. I think its because of the trans being out of a GT that had 15" rims? Or is it the speedo cable and gear being different since the final gear is different? Other then that its just physical condition which over time I will restore. I love this car already. Its fun to drive and it getting some great MPG.

Sorry for the crappy pictures I'll be doing some more cleaning so I'll get some better ones tomorrow with a real camera.

What do ya mean? The clutch isn't coming fully disconnected from the engine. It grinds when ya try to put it in reverse. If you start with the car in reverse and just let up off the clutch just a little little bit its already moving. I just want to get the issue fixed before it starts hurting the trans.

Welcome to our little corner of the world.

Check your clutch hydraulics.
Sounds like it needs to be bled, at the minimum.
You can do a gravity bleed. Park the car with the left front higher than the rest of the car.
Uncap the master cylinder, and crack open the bleeder. Watch for the bubbles to come out. (Tap the slave cylinder with something while this is happening, to dislodge any "stuck" bubbles.)
Make sure to keep the master full. Do not allow it to suck wind or you'll be starting over.
When the fluid comes out without bubbles, close the bleeder, and cap off the master.

There is a possibility that the slave (most likely) or the master has corroded, and is no longer affording a seal.
If that's the case, Rodney Dickman sells superior replacements.

If your clutch pedal sits higher than your brake pedal, it is likely not bent. But that's a possibility, too.

Welcome to the fun! I see that grand prix has Mustang wheels on it! Are they the same bolt spacing as the Fiero?

on my 86 5speed Isuzu trans--I had to shift into first (didnt need to let out clutch)and go to reverse--went right in no grind---for many years I had always grind into reverse--I had to have a rebuild on the trans--I also had a bent throwout bearing arm---the GM mechanic that rebuilt said shift into first (no need to let clutch out) and goto reverse--worked like a charm!

Try putting the car into 5th than drop it down into reverse with the car running.... my car used to do the same thing.

Thanks all. Ive started working on the problem.

The Mustang wheels are 114.3mm and Grand Prix's are 115mm so they slide on no problem but wont fit a Fiero with you some kind of lug adapter.

Here's some pics of my new project

If Pontiac made a truck that only lasted 3-4 years, I'd probably have one. It would match my GTO and the Fiero in limited production numbers.

Nice rides, I got my dash swap from an 01 GTP.
