Well today it was supposed to be in the mid 90’s so we plugged in the new AC window unit and it tripped the breaker in the plug, another moron decided it would be a good idea to put a breaker in the plug.

But the real reason I started this post was square headed screws. WTF is wrong with these people? We had fillips, straight, torx, and Allen screws that they thought we needed another type of screw in 3 or 4 more sizes.

Now I have all sorts or tools, all shapes and sizes and even have 3 or 4 sets of those square drive bits in all the sizes. But NO not today, today the bits I have are ether the wrong size or the screws are defective or something.

Anyway I go up to the shop and grind a little bit off the top of the bit, no good. So I grind off a little off the sides of the bit, no. 1 square drive. Success finally, WHY? Why did it have to take so long to get the right bit to fit?

WTF

Steve

You can blame the Canadians....they have been using them for decades....actually better than Phillips IMO. By the way, how does this apply to a Fiero?

edit: I got it....you drove your Fiero to the big box store to get the bit!

Why were you installing a window unit air conditioner into a Fiero, Steve?

to be honest i cant stand the sight of a square screw holding together a car either. Theyre obviously not used in the automotive industry and forgive me for being picky but man, square headed wood screws in a car? thats just half assing it. My fiero im restoring now had these things everywhere, i had to swap out the whole console skeleton because it was chewed up from them. just a rant ! = )

Actually, square head are very common in the van conversion industry. They dont wallow out like a philips when you use the right tip. Its also a little more secure in that common criminals dont carry around square tip screwdrivers. I like them better than phillips myself. Its easy to round off a phillips screwdriver tip on a stubborn screw and then your stuck. Ive never rounded out a square head screw or tip.

It does amaze me at times how impractical ideas can become i found it is always best to ask if they have a mark II when possible. One thing i also hate is buying a mark I and discovering a mark II or III later was available. Probably in your case it is a one and only and it is frustrating when you know you could have made it better.
